Pentoxifylline in Dogs With Osteoarthritis: Comparative Treatment and Efficacy Analysis With Meloxicam

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
12 dogs with bilateral knee osteoarthritis were treated with either meloxicam or pentoxifylline over 60 days. Pentoxifylline showed superior reductions in inflammatory markers (CRP, IL‐1β, IL‐6, TNF‐α) and improved joint biochemical parameters, particularly hyaluronic acid levels and cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP).

Identification and characterisation of temporal abundance of microRNAs in synovial fluid from an experimental equine model of osteoarthritis

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 57, Issue 4, Page 1138-1150, July 2025.
Abstract Background MicroRNAs, a class of small noncoding RNAs, serve as post‐transcriptional regulators of gene expression and are present in a stable and quantifiable form in biological fluids. MicroRNAs may influence intra‐articular responses and the course of disease, but very little is known about their temporal changes in osteoarthritis ...
