Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Chance in the Modern Synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The modern synthesis in evolutionary biology is taken to be that period in which a consensus developed among biologists about the major causes of evolution, a consensus that informed research in evolutionary biology for at ...

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Entry to 2-aminoprolines via electrochemical decarboxylative amidation of N‑acetylamino malonic acid monoesters

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
The electrochemical synthesis of 2-aminoprolines based on anodic decarboxylation–intramolecular amidation of readily available N-acetylamino malonic acid monoesters is reported. The decarboxylative amidation under Hofer–Moest reaction conditions proceeds

Bridging high-level synthesis to RTL technology libraries [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The output of high-level synthesis typically consists of a netlist of generic RTL components and a state sequencing table. While module generators and logic synthesis tools can be used to map RTL components into standard cells or layout geometries, they ...

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Three-dimensional covalent organic frameworks with nia nets for efficient separation of benzene/cyclohexane mixtures

open access: yesNature Communications
The synthesis of three-dimensional covalent organic frameworks with highly connected building blocks presents a significant challenge. In this study, we report two 3D COFs with the nia topology, named JUC-641 and JUC-642, by introducing planar hexagonal ...

Copper(II) complexes with fluorinated 5-aryl-2,2’-bipyridine-6(6’)-carboxylic acid tridentate ligands

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta
Three Cu(II) complexes containing (poly)fluorine ligands based on 5-aryl-2,2’-bipyridine-6(6’)-carboxylic acids have been synthesized for the first time. These complexes belong to either triclinic (P-1) or orthorhombic (Iba2) crystal systems. The packing
