Nature's Gift: Syzygium Aromaticum
Health and Technology Journal (HTechJ)From ancient times to now, cloves have been utilized in traditional and culinary practices. Syzygium aromaticum, also known as clove, is extracted from the buds of a flowering plant that belongs to the Myrtaceae family. This oil comprises 85% Eugenol (4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol), 5.5% Eugenyl acetate, and 1.5% β-caryophyllene. S.

Flavonoid triglycosides from the seeds of Syzygium aromaticum
Carbohydrate Research, 2006Two new apigenin triglycosides, apigenin 6-C-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1'''-->2'')-beta-D-galactopyranoside]-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside and apigenin 6-C-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1'''-->2'')-beta-D-galactopyranoside]-7-O-beta-D-(6-O-p-coumarylglucopyranoside) were isolated from the ethanol extract of the seeds of Syzygium aromaticum.

Immunohistochemical and quantitative analysis of ghrelin inSyzygium aromaticum
Cell Biology International, 2011Ghrelin, an endogenous ligand of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, has been identified in mammals, fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles and some plants. The present investigation was designed to determine whether ghrelin is present in the appetite-stimulating plants Syzygium aromaticum and Salvadora persica, using IHC (immunohistochemistry) to ...

Effect of Syzygium aromaticum extract on immediate hypersensitivity in rats
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 1998We investigated the effect of aqueous extract of Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr. et Perry (Myrtaceae) flower bud (SAFB) on immediate hypersensitivity. SAFB inhibited compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylaxis in rats (IC50 = 31.25 mg/kg, i.p.). SAFB also inhibited local immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated passive cutaneous anaphylactic reaction (IC50 = 17 ...

In vitro fungitoxicity of the essential oil of Syzygium aromaticum
World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2002The in vitro antifungal activity of clove oil was studied against four test fungi namely Alternaria alternata, Fusarium chlamydosporum, Helminthosporum oryzae and Rhizoctonia bataticola by the agar well diffusion method. These test fungi were found to be highly sensitive to clove oil at a concentration of 100 μl/well.
