Classification of Cell Receptors
1991This manuscript constitutes a first attempt to categorize the cell receptors. Based on evolutionary and biological characteristics, it is possible to classify ligand-receptor units into original families. Certain dynamic patterns that could not be classified previously lead us towards the ligand-receptor unit.

Annual Review of Immunology, 1998
▪ Abstract NK cells are regulated by opposing signals from receptors that activate and inhibit effector function. While positive stimulation may be initiated by an array of co-stimulatory receptors, specificity is provided by inhibitory signals transduced by receptors for MHC class I.

The Formation and Selection of Cells Expressing PreB Cell Receptors and B Cell Receptors
1999The repertoires of B cell receptor (Ig)-expressing B cells are generated during B cell development in a stepwise fashion (Tonegawa 1983). First, DH segments are rearranged to JH segments on the H chain locus at the transition from B220+CD19- proB cells to B220+CD19+ckit+ preB-I cells.

The antigen receptor expressed on most T-lymphocytes (T-cell antigen receptor [TCR]) is a multisubunit complex consisting of at least six different polypeptides (α, β, γ, δ, ɛ, and ζ), several of which are modified by addition of N-linked oligosaccharide chains Oligosaccharide side chains on TCR glycoproteins undergo well-characterized processing ...

Cell Receptors for Picornaviruses
1990The surfaces of animal cells bear specific receptor sites for different viruses. These sites are the first part of the host cell that viruses encounter as they begin the infectious cycle. Receptor binding has been studied as long as other events in the viral life cycle, yet with the exception of the influenza virus receptor, sialic acid, these studies ...

In 1972 M. Crone, C. Koch, and M. Simonsen published a paper entitled “The elusive T cell receptor” (Crone et al. 1972), which set the stage for almost a decade of research in this area. Since then progress has been achieved only in the manner of two steps forward and one step back.

Glutamate Receptors in Taste Receptor Cells
2007Glutamate plays a double role in the physiology of TRCs. As a free-occurring component of some foodstuff, glutamate is detected by TRCs and conveys information about the presence of protein-rich source. As a substance released by TRC and/or nerve endings, it is involved in cell-to-cell communication at chemical synapses in taste organs.
