Regulation of T lymphocyte subsets.

Ciba Foundation symposium, 1996
Patterns of cytokine secretion and functional differences distinguish T lymphocyte subsets. T lymphocyte subsets are also regulated differentially. Most established CD8+ lymphocyte clones secrete gamma-interferon (IFN-gamma) but not interleukin 2 (IL-2) or IL-4.

T Lymphocyte Subsets in Leprosy

International Journal of Dermatology, 1989
ABSTRACTPhenotypic analysis was done on 24 Egyptian leprosy patients and 11 healthy controls. The type of leprosy, duration of disease at the time of testing, and age were found to affect T cell subset distribution. As compared with controls, neural leprosy tended to have a decreased total T cell percentage, borderline leprosy an increased T suppressor

T-lymphocyte subset changes in recurrent aphthous stomatitis

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1985
Immunocytochemical techniques using monoclonal antibodies directed against T-lymphocyte surface antigens (OKT3, OKT4, and OKT8) were used to investigate changes in the T-cell subpopulations throughout the natural time course of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS). All lesions contained large numbers of OKT3-positive T cells.

Thyroid-Infiltrating T Lymphocyte Subsets in Hashimoto's Thyroiditis*

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1983
In Hashimoto's thyroiditis, the thyroid gland is infiltrated with immunocompetent lymphocytes. In this study we have used the fine needle aspiration technique to obtain thyroid-infiltrating lymphocytes from 11 HT patients for surface marker studies. The cells were characterized using conventional T and B cell markers as well as monoclonal antibodies ...

T‐lymphocyte subsets in the human lacrimal gland

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1988
Abstract. This study examines the microscopical appearance, location, distribution, subdivision and density of T‐lymphocytes in the human lacrimal gland. Fourteen glands, 7 from either sex, were removed and frozen shortly after the donors' death, and processed for immunoperoxidase staining, utilizing a biotinavidin system and one of the following ...

Abnormalities of T-lymphocyte subsets in epileptic patients

Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 2009
This study concerns the distribution of T-cell subsets as determined by specific monoclonal antibodies in 50 individuals with complex partial seizures (31) and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (19), and in 30 healthy controls. The epileptic group had significantly fewer circulating T4 "helper" lymphocytes and significantly greater number of T8

INFLUENCE OF PROGESTOGEN THERAPY ON T LYMPHOCYTE SUBSETS

Acta Pathologica Microbiologica Scandinavica Series C: Immunology, 2009
The distribution of T lymphocyte subsets was determined in 22 patients with endometrial carcinoma stage 1. Following surgery and postoperative radiotherapy the patients had been "randomized" into two groups: group A patients received no further treatment, whereas group B patients were treated with 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone caproate for one year.

Pleural T-Lymphocyte Subsets in Amiodarone-associated Pleuropneumonitis

Chest, 1989
Two male patients presented with lung disorders with all the characteristics of amiodarone-related pneumonitis. Bilateral exudative pleural effusions were associated with pneumonitis. High lymphocytosis was present in the pleural fluid with a ratio of T-lymphocyte subsets close to that found in peripheral blood; in the blood T-lymphocyte subset ratio ...

Activated T lymphocyte subsets in experimental allergic neuritis

Journal of Neuroimmunology, 1991
Changes in activated T cell subsets in peripheral blood were examined during the course of experimental allergic neuritis (EAN), using two-color immunofluorescence flow cytometry. Both CD4+ and CD8+ activated T cells decreased transiently before the onset of clinical signs, and increased just around the time of onset of the disease. In contrast, during

Peripheral T lymphocyte subsets in rapidly progressive periodontitis

Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 1988
Abstract The peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets of 10 patients with rapidly progressive periodontitis were investigated with monoclonal antibody. In 4 patients, the T helper/T suppressor ratio was increased. 5 others had a slightly reduced T helper/T suppressor ratio as compared to control group.
