Phosphatidylserine is a global immunosuppressive signal in efferocytosis, infectious disease, and cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Apoptosis is an evolutionarily conserved and tightly regulated cell death modality. It serves important roles in physiology by sculpting complex tissues during embryogenesis and by removing effete cells that have reached advanced age or whose genomes ...

Serological Evidence of Multiple Zoonotic Viral Infections among Wild Rodents in Barbados [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Background: Rodents are reservoirs for several zoonotic pathogens that can cause human infectious diseases, including orthohantaviruses, mammarenaviruses and orthopoxviruses.

The New World arenavirus Tacaribe virus induces caspase-dependent apoptosis in infected cells

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2016
The Arenaviridae is a diverse and growing family of viruses that already includes more than 25 distinct species. While some of these viruses have a significant impact on public health, others appear to be non-pathogenic. At present little is known about the host cell responses to infection with different arenaviruses, particularly those found in the ...

Mapping of the Tacaribe Arenavirus Z-Protein Binding Sites on the L Protein Identified both Amino Acids within the Putative Polymerase Domain and a Region at the N Terminus of L That Are Critically Involved in Binding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Tacaribe virus (TacV) is the prototype of the New World group of arenaviruses. The TacV genome encodes four proteins: the nucleoprotein (N), the glycoprotein precursor, the polymerase (L), and a RING finger protein (Z).

Effect of Tacaribe Virus Infection on Host Cell Protein and Nucleic Acid Synthesis

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1985
Tacaribe virus stocks were prepared which induced definite lytic responses in Vero cells infected at multiplicities giving synchronous infection. Under these conditions, the first signs of cytopathic effect (c.p.e.) appeared at about 30 h post-infection and cell lysis occurred after 40 h.

Novas moléculas antivirais, que futuro? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A Virologia é uma área em expansão, através desta conseguiu-se caracterizar os vírus conhecidos atualmente. Estes possuem características comuns entre eles, tais como ácido nucleico ou uma cápside e outras que são característica apenas de alguns, por ...
