The classical cosmological constant of open-closed string field theory
We consider deformations of D-brane systems induced by a change in the closed string background in the framework of bosonic open-closed string field theory, where it is possible to unambiguously tame infrared divergences originating from both open and ...

Don't Panic! Closed String Tachyons in ALE Spacetimes [PDF]
We consider closed string tachyons localized at the fixed points of noncompact nonsupersymmetric orbifolds. We argue that tachyon condensation drives these orbifolds to flat space or supersymmetric ALE spaces. The decay proceeds via an expanding shell of

A simple analytic solution for Tachyon condensation [PDF]
In this paper we present a new and simple analytic solution for tachyon condensation in open bosonic string field theory. Unlike the B_0 gauge solution, which requires a carefully regulated discrete sum of wedge states subtracted against a mysterious "phantom" counter term, this new solution involves a continuous integral of wedge states, and no ...

On non-homogeneous tachyon condensation in closed string theory
Lorentzian continuation of the Sine-Liouville model describes non-homogeneous rolling closed string tachyon. Via T-duality, this relates to the gauged H + 3 Wess-Zumino-Witten model at subcritical level. This model is exactly solvable.

AdS Bubbles, Entropy and Closed String Tachyons
We study the conjectured connection between AdS bubbles (AdS solitons) and closed string tachyon condensations. We confirm that the entanglement entropy, which measures the degree of freedom, decreases under the tachyon condensation.

Closed String Tachyons and RG flows [PDF]
We consider bulk tachyon condensations in a non-linear sigma model whose low energy effective theory contains a nontrivial scalar potential. We argue that one would typically encounter a strong coupling background along a RG flow corresponding to a bulk ...

Self‐Dual Effective Compact and True Compacton Configurations in Generalized Abelian Higgs Models
We have studied the existence of self‐dual effective compact and true compacton configurations in Abelian Higgs models with generalized dynamics. We have named an effective compact solution the one whose profile behavior is very similar to the one of a compacton structure but still preserves a tail in its asymptotic decay.

Tachyon cosmology with non-vanishing minimum potential: a unified model
We investigate the tachyon condensation process in the effective theory with non-vanishing minimum potential and its implications to cosmology. It is shown that the tachyon condensation on an unstable three-brane described by this modified tachyon field ...

Delocalized, non-SUSY p-branes, tachyon condensation and tachyon matter [PDF]
We construct non-supersymmetric $p$-brane solutions of type II supergravities in arbitrary dimensions ($d$) delocalized in one of the spatial transverse directions. By a Wick rotation we convert these solutions into Euclidean $p$-branes delocalized in the transverse time-like direction.

Absorption Cross Section and Decay Rate of Dilatonic Black Strings
We studied in detail the propagation of a massive tachyonic scalar field in the background of a five‐dimensional (5D) Einstein–Yang–Mills–Born–Infeld–dilaton black string: the massive Klein–Gordon equation was solved, exactly. Next we obtained complete analytical expressions for the greybody factor, absorption cross section, and decay rate for the ...
