Toward Material‐Specific Peptides From in Silico Guided Peptide Engineering to Target PET in the Presence of PS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a computational–experimental strategy to engineer material‐binding peptides toward polymer specificity. Molecular dynamics simulations identified residues driving polystyrene binding, enabling targeted substitutions that greatly reduced polystyrene affinity while preserving PET binding.

Intrathecal endomorphin-1 produces antinociceptive activities modulated by alpha 2-adrenoceptors in the rat tail flick, tail pressure and formalin tests

open access: yes, 2000
It is known that spinal morphine produces antinociception that is modulated by alpha 2-adrenoceptors. Endomorphin-1, a newly-isolated endogenous opioid ligand, shows the greatest selectivity and affinity for the mu-opiate receptor of any endogenous ...

A Decoy‐Receptor‐Armed Biomimetic Nanotherapeutic With Inherent Tropism for Conserved Pathogenic Macrophages for Treating Osteoarthritis and Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic doppelgänger nanosystem neutralizes extracellular inflammatory cytokines and silences intracellular pyroptosis, reprogramming pathogenic macrophages to attenuate both joint and spine degeneration. ABSTRACT Osteoarthritis (OA) and intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) are debilitating musculoskeletal disorders driven by shared ...

Diclofenac pretreatment alters morphine antinociception in warm-water (52°C) tail flick assay.

open access: yes, 2014
Effect of diclofenac (Diclo, 30 mg/kg) administration on morphine (10 mg/kg) antinociception was assessed by warm-water tail flick. A) Time-effect curves showing an increase in tail flick latency that peaks 60 min post morphine dosing and is declining by

Herbivory‐Induced Stomatal Opening Triggers the Dispersal of an Invasive Insect Herbivore

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The invasive leafminer Phthorimaea absoluta uniquely manipulates plant defenses by inducing stomatal opening in tomato. This response, mediated by the stomatal regulator IQM1, enhances the release of the repellent volatile benzaldehyde. This volatile triggers the dispersal of adult moths, facilitates colonization of new hosts, and leads to rapid ...
