ABSTRACT During floods, many rivers exhibit a compound channel configuration, resulting in significant interactions between the flows in the main channel and the floodplains. Due to its water and nutrient‐rich soils, floodplains are often covered by shallow vegetation and riparian woodland at the interface of the floodplain and the main channel.

Abstract Hyporheic exchange leads to the transfer of gases, solutes, and fine particles across the sediment‐water interface, playing a critical role in biogeochemical cycles and pollutant transport in aquatic environments. While in‐channel vegetation has been recognized to enhance hyporheic exchange, the mechanisms remain poorly understood.

ABSTRACT A crucial part of the phenological cycle in temperate and boreal trees is the exposure to chilling temperatures releasing endodormancy, which allows the trees to react to external signals and resume growth in spring. We compared the effect of artificial and natural chilling on endodormancy break and frost hardiness of sugar maple (Acer ...

Summary Eclepins are root‐secreted compounds that induce the hatching of cyst nematodes. Solanoeclepin A (SEA) and B (SEB) have been isolated as potent hatching factors for potato cyst nematodes (PCNs). SEB is biosynthesized in roots, released into the rhizosphere, and converted into SEA by soil microorganisms.
