Elastic Energy Storage in Biological Materials: Internal Stresses and Their Functionality
Harnessing and storing internally generated elastic energy is a clever strategy by biological materials to perform functions like shape transformation, movement, and predation. This review explores how biological systems manipulate mechanisms like atomic or protein integration into minerals, protein conformational shifts, phase transitions, and osmotic

Structure-based inhibitors of amyloid beta core suggest a common interface with tau. [PDF]
Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology is characterized by plaques of amyloid beta (Aβ) and neurofibrillary tangles of tau. Aβ aggregation is thought to occur at early stages of the disease, and ultimately gives way to the formation of tau tangles which ...

Photosystem II‐Carbon Nitride Photoanodes for Scalable Biophotoelectrochemistry
A spray‐freeze method is developed to fabricate large‐area (up to 33 cm2) macroporous carbon nitride photoanodes integrated with photosystem II enzymes for biophotoelectrochemical systems. The photoanodes reach a Faradaic efficiency of 93.5% for O2 evolution.

A fluorine‐containing hyperbranched polymer is developed to guide oriented crystallization and construct a cross‐linked hydrophobic network, enabling the formation of high‐quality perovskite films with enhanced environmental stability. The resulting devices deliver a PCE of 26.05% (0.04 cm2) and 22.43% (16.1 cm2), while maintaining 97% of their initial

This study presents a novel 4D bioprinting technique for fabricating cardiac tissues with complex microvasculature. Unlike traditional 3D printing, it enables capillary‐scale structure formation via selective post‐printing shrinkage. This approach overcomes resolution limits of printing cell‐laden hydrogels, allowing the creation of functional ...

Tau induces inflammasome activation and microgliosis through acetylating NLRP3
Background Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related Tauopathies are characterised by the pathologically hyperphosphorylated and aggregated microtubule‐associated protein Tau, which is accompanied by neuroinflammation mediated by activated microglia. However,
