Signal transduction for taurocholic acid in the olfactory system of Atlantic salmon

Chemical Senses, 1994
Conjugated bile acids such as taurocholic acid (TChA) are potent olfactory stimuli for Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). A plasma membrane rich fraction was derived from salmon olfactory rosettes and used to investigate TChA signal transduction and receptor binding.

Taurocholic acid synthesis in dogs on a high cholesterol diet

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1978
Synthesis of35S-labeled taurocholic acid was studied in dogs with a gall bladder fistula kept on a high-cholesterol diet (2 g/kg). In the first period (1–2 months) of feeding on a high-cholesterol diet a marked increase in the synthesis of [35S]taurocholic acid was observed.

Kinetics for the synthetic bile acid 75selenohomocholic acid-taurine in humans: Comparison with [14C]taurocholate

Gastroenterology, 1988
The "apparent" fractional turnover rate of the gamma-labeled bile acid analogue 75selenohomocholic acid-taurine (75SeHCAT) was assessed from decline in radioactivity over the gallbladder area on 4 successive days using a gamma-camera, and was compared in the same subjects with the fractional turnover rate of the corresponding natural bile acid, cholic ...

Effects of gemfibrozil and clofibric acid on the uptake of taurocholate by isolated rat hepatocytes

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1997
Clinical use of fibrate hypolipidaemic agents has been associated with an increased incidence of hepatobiliary dysfunction including increased bile lithogenicity, gallstone formation, and cholestasis. The hepatic transport of bile acids plays an important role in bile formation and flow, and interference with the hepatocellular transport of bile acids ...

The effect of para-aminobenzoic acid and taurocholic acid feeding on human bile composition.

Surgery, gynecology & obstetrics, 1977
Seven patients were investigated after cholecystectomy and exploration of the common bile duct to determine bile composition and excretion rates. An initial depression of the major components of bile stabilized by the sixth postoperative day. Feeding of para-aminobenzoic acid and taurocholic acid to these patients demonstrated an increase in excretion ...

The role of taurocholic acid, glycocholic acid and lysolecithin in experimental stress ulcer in the rat.

Scandinavian journal of gastroenterology. Supplement, 1981
The stress ulcer formation is enhanced significantly in rats operated with pyloro-jejunostomy and Roux-en-Y anastomosis by taurocholic acid or a mixture of taurocholic and glycocholic acid. However, the incidence of stress ulcers is significantly reduced by adding lysolecithin to the drinking solution containing these bile acids in the same ...
