Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

BIOCHEMICAL CHANGES AND ENDOCRINE RESPONSES IN PRE-COMPETITION TRAINING IN ELITE SWIMMERS

open access: yesBiology of Sport, 2012
The aim of this study was to describe biochemical changes and endocrine responses to low-volume pre-competition swimming training for elite swimmers. Twelve sprint swimmers (6 males and 6 females) participated in 3-week pre-competition training. Measures

Development of a computational fluid dynamics model of an industrial scale dense medium drum separator

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2019
The European Union is setting increasingly challenging targets for the waste recycling rates of its member states. This makes improvements in recycling processes, such as dense medium metal separation, a necessity.

Temperature dependence of the superconducting gap in high-Tc cuprates

open access: yes, 2005
It is proposed that (i) the temperature dependence of the superconducting gap Delta(T) in high-Tc cuprates can be predicted just from the knowledge of Delta(0) and the critical temperature Tc; and, in particular, (ii) Delta(0)/Tc > 4 implies that Delta ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Comparative Study of Plasma Nitriding for Dental Implant with or Without Thermocycling

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Background: PN is a cutting-edge method for enhancing the surface hardness and corrosion resistance of metallic components. Aim: To compare and assess the effect of PN on the surface lubrication (SL) and surface topography (ST) of different DI-AS with ...

SUPREME-HN: a retrospective biomarker study assessing the prognostic value of PD-L1 expression in patients with recurrent and/or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND:Programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1) expression on tumor cells (TCs) is associated with improved survival in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) treated with immunotherapy, although its role as a prognostic factor is ...

Tc=21K in epitaxial FeSe0.5Te0.5 thin films with biaxial compressive strain

open access: yes, 2009
High purity epitaxial FeSe0.5Te0.5 thin films with different thickness were grown by Pulsed Laser Ablation on different substrates. By varying the film thickness, Tc up to 21K were observed, significantly larger than the bulk value.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...
