The teaching of Turkish as a foreign language started with TÖMER, which was first established in 1984 in Ankara University and continues in many universities. It has been possible to teach Turkish as a foreign language within the scope of the programs which educate Turkish teachers even as only one course (3rd grade 6th semester) in 22 years.
