pH and Temperature Measurements in Biological Systems Utilizing the Environmental Sensitivity of Proton Transfer in Fluorophores [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A great number of cellular processes can lead to local changes in proton concentration and temperature. So, it is desirable to be able to measure pH and temperature with non-invasive and spatially resolved methods.

Temperature sensitivity of the pyloric neuromuscular system and its modulation by dopamine

open access: yes, 2013
We report here the effects of temperature on the p1 neuromuscular system of the stomatogastric system of the lobster (Panulirus interruptus). Muscle force generation, in response to both the spontaneously rhythmic in vitro pyloric network neural activity

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Inscription and Thermal Stability of Fiber Bragg Gratings in Hydrogen-Loaded Optical Fibers Using a 266 nm Pulsed Laser

open access: yesPhotonics
Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) have gained substantial research interest due to their exceptional sensing capabilities. Traditionally, FBG fabrication has required the use of pre-hydrogenated fibers and high-cost laser systems such as excimer lasers at 193 ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Study on the changes in the temperature sensitivity of spring phenology of typical woody plants in the Qinling Mountains region

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
To reveal the responses of plant phenology and climate change in the Qinling Mountains region, the phenological data of seven woody plants in the Qinling Mountains region from 1964 to 2020 were selected to analyze the patterns and characteristics of ...

Amplifying the Temperature Sensitivity of Zero-Field Splitting in Mn(II) Through Ligand Tuning

open access: yes, 2023
Controlling the temperature response of magnetic resonance properties is an essential step toward novel molecular thermome-ters or quantum sensing platforms. To date, however, demonstrations of using molecular design to control the temperature dependence

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
