Fast and efficient template-mediated synthesis of genetic variants
Nature Methods, 2023Efficient methods for the generation of specific mutations enable the study of functional variations in natural populations and lead to advances in genetic engineering applications. Here, we present a new approach, mutagenesis by template-guided amplicon assembly (MEGAA), for the rapid construction of kilobase-sized DNA variants. With this method, many

Genetic recombination of nucleosomal templates is mediated by transcription
Molecular and General Genetics MGG, 1994An in vitro system has been developed to examine the influence of transcription on genetic rearrangement. Using a homologous pairing assay, the transfer of one strand of a nucleosomal template onto a recipient DNA molecule was monitored as a function of RNA polymerase activity.

Genetic algorithm for CNN template learning
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Fundamental Theory and Applications, 1993A learning algorithm for space invariant cellular neural networks (CNNs) is described. Learning is formulated as an optimization problem. Exploration of any specified domain of stable CNNs is possible by the current approach. Templates are derived using a genetic optimization algorithm.

Object Identification Based on Deformable Templates and Genetic Algorithms
2009 International Conference on Business Intelligence and Financial Engineering, 2009In this paper, an algorithm is described which detects and localizes shapes in grayscale images. Deformable templates are often employed to model the geometry of the object to be found in an image. There are several methods to find the optimal placement and deformation of the template onto the image.

Morphology Genetic Materials Templated from Natural Species
Advanced Materials, 2014The structural characteristics of natural species have been optimized by natural selection for millions of years. They offer specific functions much more effectively than artificial approaches. Morphology genetic materials utilize morphologies gleaned from natural selection into their hierarchical structures. The combination of natural morphologies and

3D shape reconstruction of template models using genetic algorithms
Proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2004. ICPR 2004., 2004We present in this communication a method, which enables to fit a 3D object defined by a functional representation (FRep) to a dataset of 3D points on its surface. A parametric FRep model sketching the point-set is fitted to the point-set. The best fitted parameters of the model are obtained by using a genetic algorithm, well known for its interesting ...

Chromatin as a eukaryotic template of genetic information
Current Opinion in Cell Biology, 2002In eukaryotes, chromatin is essential for heredity. Chromatin architecture is sometimes "epistatic" over the DNA and imparts a different heritable state to the same DNA sequence or the same functional state to unrelated DNA sequences. This has been documented recently in a wide variety of studies focused on regulation of the yeast mating type, the ...

The template principle: Paradigm of modern genetics
Russian Journal of Genetics, 2013The idea of continuity in living systems, which was initially developed in mid-19th century, reached its peak in 1928 thanks to N.K. Koltsov, who proposed the template principle in chromosome reproduction. The determination of genetic functions of nucleic acids and the advent of molecular genetics led to F.
