Mitotherapy inhibits against tenofovir induced nephrotoxicity on rat renal proximal tubular cells

open access: yesBiochemistry and Biophysics Reports
Tenofovir, as nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), is used to prevent and cure HIV/AIDS. Ample evidence confirmed that the nephrotoxicity of tenofovir has been linked to mitochondrial dysfunction.

Comparison of the Effects of Three Dual-Nucleos(t)ide Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor Backbones on Placenta Mitochondria Toxicity and Oxidative Stress Using a Mouse Pregnancy Model

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
Nucleos(t)ide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) are the backbone of HIV antiretroviral therapy (ART). ART use in pregnancy has been associated with adverse birth outcomes, in part due to NRTI-induced mitochondrial toxicity.

Development and validation of a risk score for chronic kidney disease in HIV infection using prospective cohort data from the D:A:D study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major health issue for HIV-positive individuals, associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Development and implementation of a risk score model for CKD would allow comparison of the risks and benefits of adding ...

HPV42 – a human papillomavirus classified as a low‐risk type with oncogenic potential

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary Human papillomavirus (HPV) type 42 is a rare HPV type currently classified as “low‐risk” and belongs to the alpha genus. It has primarily been detected in benign vulvar papillomas and is predominantly associated with benign lesions such as anogenital warts.

A case of fatal acute kidney failure and anion gap metabolic acidosis in human immunodeficiency virus patient receiving tenofovir disoproxil fumarate

open access: yesHeliyon
Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, is the prodrug of tenofovir, a nucleotide analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitors used to treat human immunodeficiency virus infection. Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is the antiretroviral most associated with acute kidney

Mucosal effects of tenofovir 1% gel

open access: yeseLife, 2015
Tenofovir gel is being evaluated for vaginal and rectal pre-exposure prophylaxis against HIV transmission. Because this is a new prevention strategy, we broadly assessed its effects on the mucosa.

Combination antiretroviral therapy improves cognitive performance and functional connectivity in treatment-naïve HIV-infected individuals. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Our study aimed to investigate the short-term effect of combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) on cognitive performance and functional and structural connectivity and their relationship to plasma levels of antiretroviral (ARV) drugs.

Suppression of Indoleamine 2,3‐Dioxygenase Enhances Immune Responses to the Therapeutic Vaccine for Chronic Hepatitis B

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase (IDO) activity modulates immune responses to the therapeutic HBV vaccine NASVAC. Genetic or pharmacological suppression of IDO enhanced vaccine efficacy in mice, and lower serum kynurenine levels predicted favorable responses in humans, suggesting IDO as both a therapeutic target and a biomarker.

Co-crystals, Salts or Mixtures of Both? The Case of Tenofovir Alafenamide Fumarates

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2020
Tenofovir alafenamide fumarate (TAF) is the newest prodrug of tenofovir that constitutes several drug products used for the treatment of HIV/AIDS. Although the solid-state properties of its predecessor tenofovir disoproxil fumarate have been investigated
