Establishment of pluripotent cell lines from vertebrate species - Present status and future prospects [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Pluripotent embryonic stem (ES) cells are undifferentiated cell lines derived from early embryos and are capable of unlimited undifferentiated proliferation in vitro.

Murine Teratocarcinoma-Derived Neuronal Cultures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This chapter describes the culture and propagation of murine embryonic stem cells, F9 and P19, and strategies for differentiation of these stem cells into neurons. Additional techniques are described for obtaining enriched populations of mature neurons from P19 cells and differentiation of F9 cells into serotonergic or catecholaminergic neurons.

Ligand-independent androgen receptors promote ovarian teratocarcinoma cell growth by stimulating self-renewal of cancer stem/progenitor cells

open access: yesStem Cell Research, 2014
Background: Ovarian teratocarcinoma (OVTC) arises from germ cells and contains a high percentage of cancer stem/progenitor cells (CSPCs), which promote cancer development through their ability to self-renew.

Overexpression of the cellular retinoic acid binding protein-I (CRABP- I) results in a reduction in differentiation-specific gene expression in F9 teratocarcinoma cells

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1991
Treatment of F9 teratocarcinoma stem cells with retinoic acid (RA) causes their irreversible differentiation into extraembryonic endoderm. To elucidate the role of the cellular retinoic acid binding protein-I (CRABP-I) in this differentiation process, we

Advances and Challenges in Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Based Whole‐Cell Vaccines for Cancer Treatment

open access: yesMedicine Bulletin, Volume 1, Issue 1, Page 60-76, June 2025.
ABSTRACT In recent decades, an unexpected application of pluripotent stem cells (PSCs), including embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), as a novel source for whole‐cell vaccines (WCVs) against cancer has attracted attention in the field of tumor immunotherapy.

Transcriptional Changes in Cumulus Cells During In Vitro Maturation of Human Oocytes

open access: yesMolecular Reproduction and Development, Volume 92, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT This study assessed transcriptional changes in human cumulus cells (CCs) during oocyte maturation In Vitro. CCs were collected from 25 cumulus‐oocyte complexes derived from surplus ovarian medulla tissue of eight women (mean age 29 years, range 19–36) undergoing ovarian tissue cryopreservation without ovarian stimulation.

Studies on the mechanism of retinoid-induced pattern duplications in the early chick limb bud: temporal and spatial aspects. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
All-trans-retinoic acid causes striking digit pattern changes when it is continuously released from a bead implanted in the anterior margin of an early chick wing bud.

Intercellular mitochondrial transfer contributes to microenvironmental redirection of cancer cell fate

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 292, Issue 9, Page 2306-2322, May 2025.
The mammary microenvironment has been shown to suppress tumor progression by redirecting cancer cells to adopt a normal mammary epithelial progenitor fate in vivo. Here, we test the hypothesis that mitochondrial transfer from mammary epithelial cells to breast cancer cells plays a role in this redirection process.

Western blot data using two distinct anti-O-GlcNAc monoclonal antibodies showing unique glycosylation status on cellular proteins under 2-deoxy-d-glucose treatment

open access: yesData in Brief, 2017
Protein modification by O-linked N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAcylation) is one of the post transcriptional modifications occurring on cellular proteins.
