Revisiting Clonal Evolution Through the Light of Retrotransposons
BioEssays, Volume 47, Issue 12, December 2025.We propose integrating retrotransposons into the clonal evolution model of cancer. Retrotransposons can modulate cancer cell fitness, potentially influencing clonal dynamics. They might also induce lineage violations via cell fusion or horizontal transfer.
