Teratogenic effects of diazepam in the hamster

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1979
Pregnant hamsters were treated with different doses of oral and intravenous diazepam during the period of organogenesis. Teratogenic effects of diazepam were observed following oral treatment on days 8 and 10 and following intravenous treatment on day 11 of gestation.

Teratogenic effects of environmental concentration of plastic particles on freshwater organisms [PDF]

open access: yesScience of the Total Environment, 2023
Given the widespread presence of plastics, especially in micro- and nanoscale sizes, in freshwater systems, it is crucial to identify a suitable model organism for assessing the potential toxic and teratogenic effects of exposure to plastic particles ...

Teratogenic effects of serotonin

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1963
Serotonin given subcutaneously twice daily during pregnancy to rats produced congenital malformations, macerations, and resorptions of the offspring in a high percentage when given in the proper dose. Two cases of carcinoid in human beings are described briefly. In one the patient probably had carcinoid during all 4 pregnancies, 3 of which resulted in

Teratogenic Effects of Anticonvulsants

Archives of Neurology, 1981
The incidence of malformations in fetal mice exposed to phenytoin depends on drug dosage and the strain of mice. Animal research also suggests that most anticonvulsants are teratogenic in experimental animals when large doses are used, but the effect of valproate sodium on the fetus is poorly known.

The teratogenic effects of sertraline in mice

Birth Defects Research, 2020
AbstractBackgroundSelective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which include paroxetine (Paxil), sertraline (Zoloft), fluoxetine (Prozac), citalopram (Celexa), and escitalopram (Lexapro), are the most common antidepressants prescribed to pregnant women.

TERATOGENIC EFFECTS OF ASIAN INFLUENZA

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1959
That a cause and effect relationship exists between a maternal viral infection during the first trimester of pregnancy and congenital defects in the child remains inconclusive, except in rubella, since most of the studies are of a retrospective type.

Teratogenic and Developmental Effects of Lithium

Current Pharmaceutical Design, 2006
A review is presented on the effects of lithium in therapeutic doses on the outcome of human pregnancy. The results of various studies including cohort, prospective, retrospective and small number case reports indicate that lithium is a "weak" teratogen in humans.

Teratogenic effects of acetaldehyde in the rat

Drug and Alcohol Dependence, 1982
Acetaldehyde, the proximal metabolite of ethanol, was administered intraperitoneally in single and triple doses (50, 75, 100 mg/kg) to pregnant CF rats on days 10, 11 and 12 of gestation and fetuses were collected on day 21. Besides significant fetal resorptions, malformations were found which included edema, microcephaly, micrognathia, micromelia ...

Teratogenic Effects of Hypoglycin-A

Nature, 1968
HYPOGLYCIN-A1 has been shown to be a non-proteinogenic amino-acid of the structure L-α-amino-β-methylenecyclo-propanepropionic acid2. It is the toxic element of the fruit of Blighia sapida (called “ackee” in Jamaica) which is a common Jamaican dietary item.
