Direct mass measurements beyond the proton drip-line [PDF]
First on-line mass measurements were performed at the SHIPTRAP Penning trap mass spectrometer. The masses of 18 neutron-deficient isotopes in the terbium-to-thulium region produced in fusion-evaporation reactions were determined with relative ...

Terbium Iodide-Filled Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes: Microscopy and Spectroscopy Investigations
Terbium (III) iodide is an interesting chemical compound with unique chemical properties. The introduction of terbium iodide into single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is an environment-friendly process, and it leads to the development of new ...

Rare Earths and the Balance Problem: How to Deal with Changing Markets? [PDF]
The balance between the market demand and the natural abundance of the rare-earth elements (REEs) in ores, often referred to as the Balance Problem (or the Balancing Problem), is a major issue for REE suppliers.

A novel method for the preparation of non-agglomerated nanometre sized particles of lanthanum phosphate phosphors utilising a high surface area support in the firing process [PDF]
This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry 2012A convenient method is described that uses a quartz wool substrate to immobilise nanometre sized phosphor precursor particles enabling them to be fired at high temperature without sintering ...

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Tb[N(CN)2]3·2H2O and Eu[N(CN)2]3·2H2O: [PDF]
Two new rare-earth dicyanamides, namely, Tb[N(CN)2]3·2H2O and Eu[N(CN)2]3·2H2O, have been prepared by ion exchange in aqueous solution, followed by evaporation of the solvent at room temperature.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
