The Approach of Voyager 1 to the Termination Shock [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
From 2001 to 2002 the anomalous cosmic ray (ACR) He intensity at 52 MeV/nuc increased by a factor of ∼2.2 at Voyager 1. The increase was larger at lower energies, indicating that Voyager 1 was 7.5±2.2 AU closer to the termination shock in 2002.

Hybrid Simulations of Interstellar Pickup Ions at the Solar Wind Termination Shock Revisited

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We revisit previous hybrid simulations of the heating and acceleration of interstellar pickup ions (PUIs) at the solar wind termination shock. In previous simulations, a relatively cold initial distribution of PUIs was assumed; and while the resulting ...

Targeting the PDK1/c‐Myc/SOX10 Signaling in Oligodendrocytes Alleviates Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work reveals that oligodendrocyte homeostasis, mediated by PDK1, is a critical determinant of neuropathic pain (NPP) pathogenesis. Disruption of PDK1 in oligodendrocytes impairs SOX10‐dependent myelination programs through c‐Myc accumulation, leading to disrupted myelination and the pathophysiology of NPP.

A “Valley” in Heliospheric Energetic Particle Intensities and Implications for a New Horizons Encounter with the Solar Wind Termination Shock

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We analyze ∼40–200 keV energetic particle observations from the Pluto Energetic Particle Spectrometer Science Investigation (PEPSSI) on board the New Horizons (NH) spacecraft from 2007 to 2024 and compare them with similar measurements from the Low ...

Gemella morbillorum Promotes Colorectal Carcinogenesis: LPBDCP‐Mediated Invasion Activates Ras Signaling and Destabilizes p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gut microbiota dysbiosis promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) tumorigenesis. A global fecal metagenomic analysis identified Gemella morbillorum as a key contributor to the CRC‐associated microbiota. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed that Gemella morbillorum is enriched in CRC tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues.

Injection Process of Pickup Ion Acceleration at an Oblique Heliospheric Termination Shock

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The injection process of pickup ion acceleration at a heliospheric termination shock is investigated. Using two-dimensional fully kinetic particle-in-cell simulation, accelerated pickup ions are self-consistently reproduced by tracking long time ...

The Fermi bubbles as starburst wind termination shocks [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society: Letters, 2014
Abstract The enhanced star formation in the inner 100 pc of the Galaxy launches a superwind at ∼1600 km s-1 for M82-like parameters. The ram pressure of the wind is very low compared to more powerful starburst winds. I show that halo gas stops the wind a few kpc from the Galactic Centre.

Disruption of Treg Homeostasis in Rheumatoid Arthritis via Ferroptosis‐Mediated ETC Collapse and TXK‐STAT3/PLCγ1 Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In rheumatoid arthritis, synovial Tregs accumulate but are functionally impaired due to iron overload‐induced ferroptosis. This triggers mitochondrial dysfunction and TXK tyrosine kinase‐mediated signaling, leading to Treg destabilization and inflammation.

Visualization of Shock Wave Phenomenon around a Sharp Cone Model at Hypersonic Mach Number in a Shock Tunnel using High Speed Schlieren Facility

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2019
The flow field around a Sharp cone model configuration has been investigated by means of Schlieren facility in hypersonic shock tunnel. The time dependent evolution of flow around a cone of angle 11.38° with base radius of 150mm has been visualized ...
