Sex-Specific Associations of Testosterone With Metabolic Traits

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2019
Background: Testosterone levels are differentially linked with diabetes risk in men and women: lower testosterone levels in men and higher testosterone levels in women are associated with type 2 diabetes, though, the mechanisms are not fully clear.

Disruption of ovarian function and induction of apoptosis in female mice by Brefeldin A: Mechanistic insights into reproductive toxicity

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Brefeldin A (BFA) significantly inhibits oocyte release and induces apoptosis in ovarian granulosa cells by disrupting follicular development. It downregulates proliferation‐associated genes, reduces SIRT1/SIRT6 proteins, and upregulates cell cycle inhibitors P21 and P16. Additionally, BFA impairs estrogen synthesis and affects ovarian function through

Associations Between Low Serum Testosterone and All-Cause Mortality and Infection-Related Hospitalization in Male Hemodialysis Patients: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesKidney International Reports, 2017
Infectious diseases are the second highest cause of death in patients on dialysis. In addition, testosterone deficiency or hypogonadism is prevalent in dialysis patients.

Migration of Bisphenol A and Its Derivatives From Epoxy Coatings and Demand for BPA‐NI Products: Scientific Insights and Perspectives Leading to Regulation (EU) 2024/3190

open access: yesChemistry – An Asian Journal, EarlyView.
The newly enacted Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/3190 addresses health concerns by promoting the use of BPA‐Non‐Intent (BPA‐NI) materials, which are formulated to avoid intentional BPA‐related chemical use and minimize contamination. ABSTRACT Bisphenol A (BPA) is a widely used industrial chemical used in the production of polycarbonate and epoxy ...

Pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and safety of vutiglabridin after multiple oral administrations in healthy female and obese subjects

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Vutiglabridin (HSG4112) is a novel drug under clinical development for antiobesity treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PKs) and safety of vutiglabridin after multiple oral administrations in healthy Korean female and obese subjects and explore short‐term pharmacodynamic (PD) responses.

Extracellular vesicles in mouse testes elevate the level of serum testosterone

open access: yesReproductive and Developmental Medicine, 2019
Objective: Testosterone plays an essential role in maintaining spermatogenesis and male fertility, and the primary known source of testosterone is testicular Leydig cells, which are regulated by luteinizing hormone (LH).

Effect of enzalutamide on anticoagulant therapy with edoxaban in patients with prostate cancer

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Treatment with enzalutamide in prostate cancer is challenging due to its high potential for drug–drug interactions, particularly in the typically older population of patients with frequent comorbidities treated with multiple drugs, such as anticoagulants.

An Investigation of Hyperostosis Frontalis Interna in a Modern Anatomical Body Donor Population

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This research sought to examine the prevalence and severity of hyperostosis frontalis interna (HFI) in the Chicagoland anatomical body donor population. The study further aimed to elucidate potential demographic risk factors for HFI, including sex, age at death, and structural vulnerability index (SVI), as well as any common comorbidities, as ...

Synthesis of the Abiraterone Derivatives 5α‐ and 5β‐Δ1‐Abiraterone and Structural Determination of an Unknown Metabolite in Human Serum Derived from Oral Abiraterone Acetate

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Abiraterone (Abi) acetate, a prostate cancer treatment, is orally administered and hydrolyzed, and multiple metabolites are produced in serum by various enzymes. Two novel Abi derivatives, 5α‐ and 5β‐Δ1‐abiraterone, are synthesized. Then, an unknown metabolite in serum is identified to be 5β‐Δ1‐abiraterone based on its extracted ion chromatogram ...

Asymmetric [3,3]‐Sigmatropic Rearrangement for the Synthesis of Quaternary Center‐Containing Polycyclic Molecules: Application to the Total Synthesis of Myrmenaphthol A

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
A small library of tricyclic natural product‐like molecules with quaternary stereocenters is rapidly synthesized. An excellent chirality transfer from sulfur to carbon atom is observed, furnishing the desired products in 90–99% enantiomeric excesses and 51–78% isolated yields.
