Intraoral Drug Delivery: Bridging the Gap Between Academic Research and Industrial Innovations
Intraoral drug delivery offers a promising route for systemic and localized therapies, yet challenges such as enzymatic degradation, limited permeability, and microbial interactions hinder efficacy. This figure highlights innovative strategies—mucoadhesive materials, enzyme inhibitors, and permeation enhancers—to overcome these barriers.

Insulin resistance (IR) in adolescents with obesity is associated with a sex‐dependent metabolic “signature” comprising the branched‐chain amino acids (BCAAs), glutamate/glutamine, C3/C5 acylcarnitines, and uric acid. Here, we compared the levels of branched‐chain α‐keto acids (BCKAs) and glutamate/glutamine, which are byproducts of BCAA catabolism, as

Testosterone increases the virulence traits of uropathogenic Escherichia coli
Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) is the most common cause of urinary tract infections (UTIs) in humans. Testosterone negatively impacts UTIs by affecting the immune response, leading to higher susceptibility of chronic cystitis in individuals with ...

Salivary testosterone levels in preadolescent children
Background Saliva reflects the plasma free fraction of testosterone which is biologically active, and available for uptake by tissues. Testosterone concentration in saliva, though differing slightly from the concentration of unbound testosterone in serum,

Genomics-guided molecular maps of coronavirus targets in human cells: a path toward the repurposing of existing drugs to mitigate the pandemic [PDF]
Human genes required for SARS-CoV-2 entry into human cells, ACE2 and FURIN, were employed as baits to build genomics-guided maps of up-stream regulatory elements, their expression and functions in human body, including pathophysiologically-relevant cell types.

Statistical Methods for cis-Mendelian Randomization with Two-sample Summary-level Data [PDF]
Mendelian randomization is the use of genetic variants to assess the existence of a causal relationship between a risk factor and an outcome of interest. Here, we focus on two-sample summary-data Mendelian randomization analyses with many correlated variants from a single gene region, and particularly on cis-Mendelian randomization studies which use ...

Multiplexed Bio‐detection on an Interferometric Optical Waveguide Assembly
Multiplexed remote bio‐detection is demonstrated through an image conduit composed of 3012 individual cores and coated with interferometric layers. The proof of concept of biodetection is performed through the kinetic monitoring of two complementary DNA strands hybridization paving the way for applications in multiplex in situ biosensing, and ...

Non‐faradaic label‐free impedimetric determination of cortisol is demonstrated with gold nanoparticles (AuNP) functionalized laser‐induced graphene interdigitated electrodes (LIG‐IDE). The AuNP functionalized LIG‐IDE exhibits remarkable characteristics including good logarithmic linear range, high reproducibility, repeatability, and robust selectivity.
