Low-temperature properties of the spin-1 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with bond-alternation
We investigate the low-temperature properties of the spin-1 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with bond-alternation by the quantum Monte Carlo method (loop algorithm).

Conjugative IncF and IncI1 plasmids with tet(A) and class 1 integron conferring multidrug resistance in F18+ porcine enterotoxigenic E. coli [PDF]
Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) bacteria are frequently causing watery diarrhea in newborn and weaned pigs. Plasmids carrying genes of different enterotoxins and fimbrial adhesins and plasmids conferring antimicrobial resistance are of prime importance in

A cascade‐responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF/GelMA hydrogel is engineered as a “skeleton–backpack” platform for extensive tracheal repair. The MXene framework scavenges postoperative ROS and converts NIR light into mild hyperthermia, while the Cu‐MOF component provides pH/NIR‐responsive Cu2+ dosing for infection control, angiogenesis, and chondrogenesis.

DNA rearrangements generating artificial promoters [PDF]
The promoter-cloning plasmid pBRH4 (a derivative of pBR322 with a partially deleted promoter of the tet gene) is shown to contain a sequence which is located near the EcoRI site and can operate as an effective Pribnow box, but is not the remainder of the

We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.

Dynamics of 5-methylcytosine and 5-hydroxymethylcytosine during pronuclear development in equine zygotes produced by ICSI [PDF]
Background: Global epigenetic reprogramming is considered to be essential during embryo development to establish totipotency. In the classic model first described in the mouse, the genome-wide DNA demethylation is asymmetric between the paternal and the ...

A Genomic Catalog of Migratory Microbiomes from Wild Birds across China's Habitats
ABSTRACT Migratory birds play an important role in the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR); however, gaps in surveillance data from vital regions along migratory flyways across China limit the detection of emergent threats. Here, we assembled 340 metagenomes from 52 bird species covering 11 provincial administrative districts in China, presenting ...

Analysis of two pheromone-responsive conjugative multiresistance plasmids carrying the novel mobile optrA locus from Enterococcus faecalis [PDF]
Background: The acquired optrA gene, which encodes a ribosomal protection protein of the ABC-F family, can confer cross-resistance to linezolid and florfenicol, posing a serious therapeutic challenge to both human and veterinary medicine.

CDK5RAP2 associates with the kinesin HSET and forms co‐condensates. HSET motors drive the directional transport of CDK5RAP2 condensates toward microtubule minus ends. During mitosis, HSET self‐assembly further stabilizes clustered centrosomes, thereby enabling pseudo‐bipolar spindle formation in cancer cells with supernumerary centrosomes. Upon mitotic
