On‐site pilot‐scale advanced oxidation pretreatment of hospital wastewater: assessment of pharmaceuticals, pathogens, antibiotic resistance genes and acute ecotoxicity

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Hospital premises generate wastewater containing a wide spectrum of contaminants, such as pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs), antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and pathogenic microorganisms, whilst plenty of them are classified under the antibiotic resistant bacteria (ΑRΒ) category.

Gingival inflammation and plaque accumulation affect therapeutic outcomes in patients with acne vulgaris

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background We hypothesized that acne vulgaris (AV) and gingivitis were associated through systemic inflammatory mechanisms, sharing common etiological factors. This study aimed to identify the association between AV and gingivitis and to assess changes in acne severity in relation to changes in the plaque index (PI).

Detecting Antibiotic Resistance in Strains of Selected Gram‐Negative Bacterial Species Using Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Raman spectroscopy successfully identified antibiotic‐resistant Gram‐negative strains. Resistant strains of four bacterial species were discriminated from sensitive ones with 99.1% accuracy using PLS regression. The method allows for rapid, label‐free detection of antibiotic resistance.

Surgical Procedures and Medical Treatments Among Patients With Hidradenitis Suppurativa Before and After Referral to Specialised Dermatological Hospital Care: A Nationwide Registry Study

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is often diagnosed late, complicating management. In this nationwide Danish study including 10,196 patients with dermatologist‐verified HS, we examined treatment patterns before and after referral to specialised hospital care.

Systemic Absorption and Pharmacokinetics of Five Novel Topical Dermatologic Agents: A Review

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In recent years, innovative topical medications with novel mechanisms of action have emerged to treat common dermatologic conditions such as acne, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, and actinic keratoses. These molecularly targeted therapies offer improved safety and tolerability compared to traditional options like corticosteroids.

Pyoderma Gangrenosum: A Retrospective Cohort Study of Comorbidities and Therapies in Over 65,000 Patients in the TriNetX Database

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare neutrophilic dermatosis associated with systemic inflammatory diseases and malignancy. Although biologic therapies demonstrate efficacy in PG, the extent of their real‐world use remains incompletely characterized.
