The species diversity and some features of ecology of tetranychid mites of the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve were investigated. As a total, 20 species and 11 genera of spider mites were found on the 58 green plantings. Some features of distribution and trophic specialization of tetranychid mites were established in this reserve.

The carotenoid pigments of Schizonobia sycophanta Womersley (Acari: Tetranychidae)
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1974Abstract 1. 1. Nine carotenoids were isolated and identified from the spider mite Schizonobia sycophanta . 2. 2. Besides the unaltered plant carotenoids β-carotene, lutein, lutein-5,6-epoxide, violaxanthin and neoxanthin, all taken in with the food, the mites contained the keto-carotenoids echinenone, 3-hydroxy-4-keto-β-carotene, 3-hydroxy-4,

The carotenoid pigments of Oligonychus bessardi Gutierrez (Acari: Tetranychidae)
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1976Abstract 1. 1. Eleven carotenoids were present on thin layer chromatograms of extracts from the spider mite Oligonychus bessardi. 2. 2. The following carotenoids were isolated and identified: α-carotene, β-carotene, lutein, lutein epoxide, violaxanthin, neoxanthin, hydroxyechinenone, phoenicoxanthin and astaxanthin. 3. 3.

Cold tolerance of Panonychus citri (McGregor) (Acari: Tetranychidae)
Experimental and Applied AcarologyThe citrus red mite (CRM), Panonychus citri (McGregor) (Acari: Tetranychidae), has expanded its range from southern China to colder regions in northern China, where low winter temperatures pose a critical survival challenge. Understanding its cold tolerance is important for predicting future distribution and dispersal patterns in northern China ...

Carotenoid metabolism in tetranychus urticae koch (Acari: Tetranychidae)
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1974Abstract 1. 1. Besides the plant carotenoids α-carotene, β-carotene, lutein, lutein-5,6-epoxide, violaxanthin and neoxanthin, wild-type Tetranychus urticae was found to contain esterified 3-hydroxy-4-keto-β-carotene, 3-hydroxy-4,4′-diketo-β-carotene and astaxanthin. 2. 2. From the study of the carotenoid content of seven pigment mutants of
