Marek's Disease Virus (MDV) is an alphaherpesvirus that infects chickens, transforms CD4+ T cells and causes deadly lymphomas. In addition, MDV induces immunosuppression early during infection by inducing cell death of the infected lymphocytes, and ...

TGF‐β responsiveness in cultured cells can be modulated by TGF‐β partitioning between lipid raft/caveolae‐ and clathrin‐mediated endocytosis pathways. The ratio of TGF‐β binding to TβR‐II and TβR‐I on the cell surface has recently been found to be a signal that controls TGF‐β partitioning between these pathways.

TGF-beta TGF-beta RII CLC-3 axis promotes cognitive disorders in diabetes
Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) and Chloride channel-3 (CLC-3) are critical for inflammatory response, cellular proliferation and apoptosis in hippocampus neurons. However, the relationship between CLC-3 and TGF-beta/TGF-beta Receptor II (RII) pathway in diabetic encephalopathy (DE) is unknown.

Background Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein that synthesizes telomeres and plays an important role in chromosomal stability and cellular immortalisation. Telomerase activity is detectable in most human cancers but not in normal somatic cells.

The specificities of small molecule inhibitors of the TGF beta and BMP pathways [PDF]
Small molecule inhibitors of type 1 receptor serine threonine kinases (ALKs1-7), the mediators of TGF beta and BMP signals, have been employed extensively to assess their physiological roles in cells and organisms. While all of these inhibitors have been

Transforming growth factor-beta stimulation of lung fibroblast prostaglandin E2 production. [PDF]
Transforming growth factor-beta (TGF beta) stimulated the production of total protein, collagen, and fibronectin by normal human lung fibroblasts.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Accumulation, localization, and compartmentation of transforming growth factor beta during endochondral bone development. [PDF]
Endochondral bone formation was induced in postnatal rats by implantation of demineralized rat bone matrix. Corresponding control tissue was generated by implanting inactive extracted bone matrix, which did not induce bone formation.

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Botulinum Toxin A for the Treatment of Keloids [PDF]
Introduction: Keloids are the result of excessive scar tissue formation. Besides their poor aesthetic appearance, keloids can be associated with severe clinical symptoms such as pain, itching, and rigidity.
