Cannabis Sativa Revisited—Crosstalk between microRNA Expression, Inflammation, Oxidative Stress, and Endocannabinoid Response System in Critically Ill Patients with Sepsis

open access: yesCells, 2020
Critically ill patients with sepsis require a multidisciplinary approach, as this situation implies multiorgan distress, with most of the bodily biochemical and cellular systems being affected by the condition.

Meniscus‐Guided Interfacial Ring‐by‐Ring Assembly for In Situ Fabrication of Tubular Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A tubular hydrogel fabrication method leveraging the meniscus effect at the oil‐water interface is presented. UV irradiation across the concave surface of the photocurable hydrogel precursor induces the formation of ring‐like hydrogel structures. Sequential ring‐by‐ring assembly within microchannels enables the construction of arteriole‐scale hydrogel ...

Δ9-THC Metabolites in Meconium: Identification of 11-OH-Δ9-THC, 8β,11-diOH-Δ9-THC, and 11-nor-Δ9-THC-9-COOH as Major Metabolites of Δ9-THC [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Toxicology, 1998
Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis of meconium specimens screening positive for cannabinoids by the EMIT 20 Assay showed a low confirmation rate for 11-nor-9-carboxy-delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THCCOOH). A study was designed to investigate the possible contribution of other delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) metabolites, including ...

Inhibition of IGFBP4 in Granulosa Cells Improves Reproductive Performance and Maintains Fertility With Age via YAP Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 is upregulated in granulosa cells of aged ovaries across monkeys, mice, and humans. It inhibits YAP signaling, thereby suppressing cell proliferation and contributing to follicular dysfunction. Deletion of Igfbp4 in granulosa cells enhances ovulatory output, improves hormone profiles, and reproductive performance in aged female mice, suggesting ...

Placental Site Trophoblastic Tumor Acquires Immune Functions by Incorporating Host Maternal Genes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PSTT cells, through cell fusion with B cells, incorporate abundant non‐inherited maternal genes that are detectable by DNIMA. These hybrid cells acquire immunotherapy‐resistant genetic changes and increase the expression of B cell‐derived immune‐related molecules such as Ig, HLA, LILRB, SIGLEC10, and so on, creating an immunotolerant environment around

Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), 11-Hydroxy-THC, and 11-Nor-9-carboxy-THC Plasma Pharmacokinetics during and after Continuous High-Dose Oral THC [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 2009
AbstractBackground: Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the primary psychoactive constituent of cannabis and an active cannabinoid pharmacotherapy component. No plasma pharmacokinetic data after repeated oral THC administration are available. Methods: Six adult male daily cannabis smokers resided on a closed clinical research unit. Oral THC capsules (20 mg)

Néel‐Vector‐Dependent Unconventional Spin‐Orbit Torque for Deterministic Field‐Free Switching in NiO (110)‐Based Trilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Unconventional spin currents are generated in an antiferromagnetic NiO(110)/Ta/CoFeB trilayer, where the Néel vector governs spin transport. The resulting spin–orbit torques enable deterministic field‐free switching of perpendicular magnetization.
