A Discovery and Replication Study of Dyslexia Does Not Reveal Reproducible Gray Matter Volume Differences

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 11, 01 August 2026.
This study shows that gray matter volume (GMV) differences in dyslexia fail to replicate across two studies in large, representative samples, and reproducibility of results is dependent on analytic choices, particularly whether total GMV is accounted for. Prior GMV findings in dyslexia should therefore be considered with caution.
