Summary Thelohanellus pyriformis ( Thelohan 1892) from tench (Tinca tinca) gills is redescribed using light and electron microscopy. Trophozoites in form of polysporic plasmodia develop in gill filament arteries. The plasmodia are coated with endothelial cells of the host.

Thelohanellus kitauei (Myxobolidae) infects cyprinid fish. The evolution of species derived from common ancestors results in the sharing of biological features. To reveal the origin of T. kitauei biological features, the correlation between phylogeny and biological features of Myxobolidae was investigated by Bayesian inference tree and Bayesian tip ...

Low pH, dissolved oxygen and high temperature induces Thelohanellus rohita (myxozoan) infestation in tropical fish, Labeo rohita (Hamilton) [PDF]
In Labeo rohita, myxozoan infection is very common and here occurrence and distribution of myxozoan gill parasites were studied with an objective to evaluate the relationship between myxozoan infections with different abiotic factors. All ponds were infected with myxozoan infection.

A myxozoan resembling species of Thelohanellus was isolated from the gills of koi (Cyprinus carpio) cultured in North Carolina. Plasmodia measuring ∼200 µm in diameter contained tear-shaped myxospores containing a single pyriform polar capsule. The spore body was concave on one side, measuring 16.2 (14.7-16.8) µm long and 5.6 (4.5-6) µm wide. The polar

Abstract Case Description—An 8-month-old koi (Cyprinus carpio) fish was examined at the animal hospital at Seoul National University for anal obstruction. Clinical Findings—The affected fish was lethargic and anorexic, appeared depressed, and had a nodular obstruction at the anus.

[The biology and pathogenicity of the carp parasite Thelohanellus nikolskii (Myxosporidia)].
Parazitologiia, 1991The myxosporidian Thelohanellus nikolskii has been recorded in young of carp in fish-breeding ponds of Moldavia since 1982. Sporogenesis takes place from June to August. Single cysts with mature spores are found in winter and spring. The distribution of cysts in the host's population is of overdispersed character.
