Thermal transport in SiC nanostructures

open access: yes, 2004
SiC is a robust semiconductor material considered ideal for high-power application due to its material stability and large bulk thermal conductivity defined by the very fast phonons. In this paper, however, we show that both material-interface scattering

Application of Hybrid Fillers for Improving the Through-Plane Heat Transport in Graphite Nanoplatelet-Based Thermal Interface Layers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The in-plane alignment of graphite nanoplatelets (GNPs) in thin thermal interface material (TIM) layers suppresses the though-plane heat transport thus limiting the performance of GNPs in the geometry normally required for thermal management applications.

Metal–Organic–Inorganic Nanocomposite Thermal Interface Materials with Ultralow Thermal Resistances [PDF]

open access: yesACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2017
As electronic devices get smaller and more powerful, energy density of energy storage devices increases continuously, and moving components of machinery operate at higher speeds, the need for better thermal management strategies is becoming increasingly important.

Thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of graphite/Mg composite with a super-nano CaCO3 interfacial layer

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: Incorporating graphite/graphene into a Mg alloy matrix is a promising approach for developing lightweight heat dissipation materials. However, carbon material is inherently incompatible with Mg because of their distinctly different surface ...

Wave reflection at a free interface in an anisotropic pyroelectric medium with nonclassical thermoelasticity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, the well-established two-dimensional mathematical model for linear pyroelectric materials is employed to investigate the reflection of waves at the boundary between a vacuum and an elastic, transversely isotropic, pyroelectric material.

Effects Of Thermal Exchange On Material Flow During Steel Thixoextrusion Process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Semi-solid processing is an innovative technology for near net-shape production of components, where the metallic alloys are processed in the semi-solid state.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Reliability Investigation of a Carbon Nanotube Array Thermal Interface Material

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
As feature density increases within microelectronics, so does the dissipated power density, which puts an increased demand on thermal management. Thermal interface materials (TIMs) are used at the interface between contacting surfaces to reduce the ...
