Thermoreversible Associating Polymer Networks: I. Interplay of Thermodynamics, Chemical Kinetics, and Polymer Physics

open access: yes, 2009
Hybrid molecular dynamics/Monte Carlo simulations used to study melts of unentangled, thermoreversibly associating supramolecular polymers. In this first of a series of papers, we describe and validate a model that is effective in separating the effects ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Tuning the critical gelation temperature of thermo-responsive diblock copolymer worm gels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Amphiphilic diblock copolymer nano-objects can be readily prepared using reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. For example, poly(glycerol monomethacrylate) (PGMA) chain transfer agents (CTA) can be chain-extended using 2-

Synthesis of a Novel Thermoresponsive S53P4 Bioactive Glass Extract–Poloxamer 407 Injectable Hydrogels: Assessment of Biocompatibility and Antimicrobial Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates innovative thermoreversible hydrogels derived from S53P4 bioactive glass extracts to aid in the healing of infected diabetic foot wounds. These injectable gels, which gel at body temperature, release beneficial ions and remain stable over time.

Challenges in pediatric endothelial keratoplasty

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
We performed endothelial keratoplasty (EK) in three eyes of two siblings (2.5 years, male and 3.5 years, female) with congenital hereditary endothelial dystrophy (CHED) and report the intraoperative and postoperative difficulties. Repeated iris prolapse,

Reversible gelation and dynamical arrest of dipolar colloids

open access: yes, 2007
We use molecular dynamics simulations of a simple model to show that dispersions of slightly elongated colloidal particles with long-range dipolar interactions, like ferrofluids, can form a physical (reversible) gel at low volume fractions.

Rheology of SiO2/(Acrylic Polymer/Epoxy) Suspensions. I. Linear Viscoelasticity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Linear viscoelastic properties of SiO2/(AP/EP) suspension with various SiO2 volume fractions (φ) in a blend of acrylic polymer (AP) and epoxy (EP) were investigated at various temperatures (T). The AP/EP contained 70 vol% of EP. The SiO2 particles were
