Frozen and Scorched: Genomic Signatures of Adaptive Divergence and Hibernation in the Living Fossil Dromiciops

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
We evaluated adaptation to torpor and hibernation in the genus Dromiciops by comparing it with both torpid and non‐torpid marsupials, and investigated divergent selection signals between its two species. For the ancestral node, we identified positive selection in the genes PFKFB2, LAMP3, OTX1, and RAPSN, alongside an enrichment of pathways potentially ...

Synergistic Anti‐Obesity Effect of Akkermansia muciniphila AKM Lab‐01 and Garcinia cambogia Extract via Gut Microbiota Remodeling in Diet‐Induced Obese Mice

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Combined administration of pasteurized Akkermansia muciniphila (AKM Lab‐01) and Garcinia cambogia extract (GCE) alleviates high‐fat‐diet‐induced obesity in mice by reducing adiposity, metabolic disturbances, and adipose inflammation, while remodeling gut microbiota and adipose transcriptome, revealing a gut‐host metabolic axis that underpins the ...

Therapeutic Potential of Water‐Based Anatolian Propolis Extract Against CAF Diet‐Induced Obesity and Its Metabolic Complications

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Water‐based Anatolian propolis extract attenuates CAF diet‐induced obesity‐related metabolic disturbances by improving dyslipidemia, hepatic injury, adipokine imbalance, and inflammatory status in C57BL/6 mice. ABSTRACT This study investigates the anti‐obesity effects of water‐based Anatolian propolis extract in mice with a cafeteria diet‐induced ...

Amelioration of Cancer Cachexia‐Induced Muscle Atrophy and Adipose Tissue Wasting by a Combination of Amaranth (Amaranthus caudatus L.) Hydrolysate and Korean Mint (Agastache rugosa) Extract in BALB/c Mice

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Amaranth hydrolysate combined with Agastache rugosa extract (AKE) attenuated cancer cachexia in CT26 tumor‐bearing mice by suppressing systemic inflammation and modulating muscle and adipose tissue metabolism. AKE inhibited FoxO3a‐mediated proteolysis while restoring PI3K/Akt/mTOR‐dependent protein synthesis in skeletal muscle.

Investigating the Relationship Between Dietary Antioxidant Index With Anthropometric Indices, Clinical Symptoms, Inflammatory Markers, Sleep Quality and Quality of Life in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease causing joint inflammation, pain, and deformity, significantly impacting physical and mental well‐being. Sleep disturbances and obesity exacerbate symptoms, increasing disease severity.
