RNomics of Thermus themophilus HB8 by DNA microarray and next-generation sequencing [PDF]
By using the data obtained by the DNA microarray analysis for the intergenic regions applied to RNA samples extracted from Thermus thermophilus HB8, seven small non-coding RNAs, TtR-1 to TtR-7, were found to be expressed in the cells growing in rich and ...

The discovery of LIBX‐A401, a potent and selective ACSL4 inhibitor derived from rosiglitazone is reported. HDX‐MS reveals that LIBX‐A401 stabilizes the ACSL4 C‐terminus and alters the fatty acid (FA) gate domain. Consistently, photoaffinity labeling, molecular dynamics, and mutagenesis identify key binding residues within the FA pocket.

Studies of the ferredoxin from Thermus thermophilus.
The soluble ferredoxin from Thermus thermophilus was examined by Mössbauer and EPR spectroscopies and by reductive titrations. These studies demonstrate the presence of one 3Fe center, responsible for the characteristic g = 2.02 EPR signal in the oxidized protein, and one [4Fe-4S] center which is responsible for the rhombic EPR spectrum of the fully ...

Complete Genome Sequencing of Thermus thermophilus Strain HC11, Isolated from Mine Geyser in Japan
Thermus thermophilus strain HC11 was isolated from Mine Geyser in Japan, where type strain HB8 was isolated 50 years ago. In this article, the complete genome sequence of HC11 is presented.

Building Proteins in a Day: Efficient 3D Molecular Reconstruction
Discovering the 3D atomic structure of molecules such as proteins and viruses is a fundamental research problem in biology and medicine. Electron Cryomicroscopy (Cryo-EM) is a promising vision-based technique for structure estimation which attempts to ...

Structural insights into RNA processing by the human RISC-loading complex. [PDF]
Targeted gene silencing by RNA interference (RNAi) requires loading of a short guide RNA (small interfering RNA (siRNA) or microRNA (miRNA)) onto an Argonaute protein to form the functional center of an RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC).

The highly negatively charged phosphodiester groups of nucleic acids and cyclic (di‐)nucleotides often interact with amino acids containing polar or positively charged sidechains. Due to charge repulsion with their negatively charged carboxylate groups in their side chains, glutamate and aspartate are considered to be detrimental to such interactions ...

In addition to natural competence, some Thermus thermophilus strains show a high rate of DNA transfer via direct cell-to-cell contact. The process is bidirectional and follows a two-step model where the donor cell actively pushes out DNA and the ...
