Thickness Study of Er-Doped Magnesium Zinc Oxide Diode by Spray Pyrolysis

open access: yesCrystals, 2018
Erbium-doped magnesium zinc oxides were prepared through spray pyrolysis deposition at 450 °C with an aqueous solution containing magnesium nitrate, zinc acetate, erbium acetate, and indium nitrate precursors.

Finite size effects with variable range exchange coupling in thin-film Pd/Fe/Pd trilayers

open access: yes, 2010
The magnetic properties of thin-film Pd/Fe/Pd trilayers in which an embedded ~1.5 A-thick ultrathin layer of Fe induces ferromagnetism in the surrounding Pd have been investigated.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Osteoarthrosis: Analyze of the Molar Bite Force, Thickness and Masticatory Efficiency

open access: yesPrague Medical Report, 2020
Osteoarthrosis is a disorder of synovial joints, resulting from destruction of the cartilage and subchondral bone. The present study is aimed to investigate the molar bite force, thickness and efficiency of the masseter and temporalis muscles of subjects

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Thickness and Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This is a review essay devoted to Pekka Väyrynen’s The Lewd, the Rude and the Nasty. Väyrynen’s book, concerned with thick terms and thick concepts, argues for a pragmatic view on the evaluativeness associated with these terms and concepts.

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...
