Graphene Oxide Promotes Site-Selective Allylic Alkylation of Thiophenes with Alcohols.

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2018
The graphene oxide (GO) assisted allylic alkylation of thiophenes with alcohols is presented. Mild reaction conditions and a low GO loading enabled the isolation of a range of densely functionalized thienyl and bithienyl compounds in moderate to high ...

QSAR model for predicting radical scavenging activity of di(hetero)arylamines derivatives of benzo[b]thiophenes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A QSAR study was developed in order to model the antioxidant activity, specifically the radical scavenger activity (RSA), of 26 di(hetero)arylamines’ derivatives of benzo[b]thiophenes.

The sonoelectrooxidation of thiophene S-oxides

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2004
Thiophene-S-oxides (thiophene monoxides) are relatively new compounds, less stable than the better-known thiophene-S-dioxides. They are useful as synthons for a range of applications, including in the production of pharmaceuticals. They have interesting photochemical properties, but in this presentation we contrast the electro-oxidative voltammetry of ...

Understanding and Addressing the Performance Asymmetry Issue in Semitransparent Laminated Organic Photovoltaic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work addresses the challenge of current–voltage asymmetry in scalable laminated semitransparent organic photovoltaics (OPVs) for indoor applications. Vertical stratification of materials is shown to create an energy barrier, leading to performance differences under different illumination directions.

Thiophene-forming one-pot synthesis of three thienyl-bridged oligophenothiazines and their electronic properties

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016
The pseudo five-component Sonogashira–Glaser cyclization synthesis of symmetrically 2,5-diaryl-substituted thiophenes is excellently suited to access thienyl-bridged oligophenothiazines in a one-pot fashion. Three thienyl-bridged systems were intensively

Small molecule branched-chain ketoacid dehydrogenase kinase (BDK) inhibitors with opposing effects on BDK protein levels

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Branched chain amino acid (BCAA) catabolic impairments have been implicated in several diseases. Branched chain ketoacid dehydrogenase (BCKDH) controls the rate limiting step in BCAA degradation, the activity of which is inhibited by BCKDH kinase (BDK ...

S,N-Heteropentacenes – Syntheses of Electron-Rich Anellated Pentacycles

open access: yesOrganic Materials, 2021
This review summarizes syntheses of S,N-heteropentacenes, i.e. electron-rich sulfur and nitrogen-embedding pentacycles, and briefly highlights selected applications in molecular electronics. Depending on the anellation mode and the number of incorporated

Synthesis of diarylamines in the benzo[b]thiophene series bearing electron donating or withdrawing groups by Buchwald–Hartwig C–N coupling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Diarylamines in the benzo[b]thiophene series bearing electron donating or withdrawing groups, were prepared by Buchwald– Hartwig C–N coupling in moderate to high yields. The conditions used were Pd(OAc)2 (3 mol%), BINAP as ligand (4 mol%) and Cs2CO3 as

Decoding the Structure of Benzodithiophene Polymers for High‐Efficiency Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique solid mesophase in top‐performing benzodithiophene‐based polymers for solar cells, comprising stacked solid‐like and liquid‐like layers. Combining nanoscale fibrillar domains with amorphous regions, it introduces a new structural paradigm.
