One-Pot Synthesis of 2-(Aryl/Alkyl)amino-3-cyanobenzobthiophenes and Their Hetero-Fused Analogues by Pd-Catalyzed Intramolecular Oxidative CH Functionalization/Arylthiolation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We have developed a high-yielding synthesis for substituted 2-(aryl/alkyl)amino-3-cyanobenzobthiophenes and their hetero-fused analogues by using a palladium-catalyzed intramolecular oxidative Câ H functionalization/arylthiolation reaction of in situ ...

The “simple” photochemistry of thiophene

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics
The static gas-phase (“simple”) ultraviolet absorption spectrum of thiophene is investigated using a combination of a vibronic coupling model Hamiltonian with multi-configuration time-dependent Hartree quantum dynamics simulations. The model includes five states and all 21 vibrations, with potential surfaces calculated at the complete active space with

Light‐Mediated Photomultiplication via Cascade Energy Transfer in Organic Photodiode

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light‐mediated photomultiplication via cascade energy transfer in organic photodiode demonstrates external quantum efficiency exceeding 200% and specific detectivity surpassing 5.0 × 1013 Jones. This advancement effectively addresses the limitation of elevated dark current density characteristic of prior photomultiplication organic photodetectors ...

Organic-skinned inorganic nanoparticles: surface-confined polymerization of 6-(3-thienyl)hexanoic acid bound to nanocrystalline TiO2

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2011
There are many practical difficulties in direct adsorption of polymers onto nanocrystalline inorganic oxide surface such as Al2O3 and TiO2 mainly due to the insolubility of polymers in solvents or polymer agglomeration during adsorption process.

Mechanistic Study of Pd/Ag Dual-Catalyzed Cross-Dehydrogenative Coupling of Perfluoroarenes with Thiophenes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The mechanism of the Pd/Ag dual-catalyzed cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) between perfluoroarenes and thiophenes was clarified. The exact role of the catalytic resting state of the homo-biaryl-Pd(II) complex which was previously overlooked in Pd/Ag ...

Ferrocene Derivatives Enable Ultrasensitive Perovskite Photodetectors with Enhanced Reverse Bias Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Novel ferrocene derivatives (e.g., FcPhc2) are used as an ultrathin layer hole‐blocking layer, reducing hole injection from the Ag contact. This results in an ultralow noise spectral density of 1.2 × 10−14 A Hz−1/2, and a high specific detectivity of 8.1 × 1012 Jones at −0.5 V.

Hindered aryl bromides for regioselective palladium-catalysed direct arylation at less favourable C5-carbon of 3-substituted thiophenes

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2014
The use of the congested aryl bromide 2-bromo-1,3-dichlorobenzene as coupling partner allows to modify the regioselectivity of the arylation of 3-substituted thiophene derivatives in favour of carbon C5.

Solution‐Processable and Ambient‐Stable Highly Conductive p‐Type Polymers Derived from Dihydropyrazine and Ethylenedioxythiophene

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents π–conjugated polymers based on dihydropyrazine (DHP) and ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT), developed to produce highly conductive, flexible films for printed electronics. By optimizing the DHP and EDOT ratio, strong and compact π–π stacking is achieved, resulting in polymer films with conductivities up to 1700 S cm−1 under ambient ...
