Transcription factor YcjW controls the emergency H2S production in E. coli
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) production in Escherichia coli is controlled by the sulfurtransferase 3MST. Here, the authors describe an alternative mechanism for H2S biosynthesis via activation of the thiosulfate sulfurtransferase PspE, a process mediated by ...

H2S, Polysulfides, and Enzymes: Physiological and Pathological Aspects
We have been studying the general aspects of the functions of H2S and polysulfides, and the enzymes involved in their biosynthesis, for more than 20 years.

Metabolic and vascular effects of thiosulfate sulfurtransferase deletion
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), is a gasotransmitter with several key roles in metabolism and vascular function. The effects of H2S are dependent on concentration and target organ. For example, increased H2S concentrations impair liver metabolic function but protect against vascular dysfunction and atherosclerosis.

Identification and characterization of single‐domain thiosulfate sulfurtransferases from Arabidopsis thaliana [PDF]
Sulfurtransferases/rhodaneses (ST) are a group of enzymes widely distributed in all three phyla that catalyze the transfer of sulfur from a donor to a thiophilic acceptor substrate. All ST contain distinct structural domains, and can exist as single‐domain proteins, as tandemly repeated modules in which the C‐terminal domain bears the active site, or ...

Feeding low or pharmacological concentrations of zinc oxide changes the hepatic proteome profiles in weaned piglets. [PDF]
Pharmacological levels of zinc oxide can promote growth and health of weaning piglets, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are yet not fully understood.
