In this viewpoint, we discuss the seminal work contributed by Dixon, who reported the first use of a bifunctional cinchona-derived thiourea organocatalyst for the enantioselective conjugate addition of malonate esters to nitroalkenes. Since then, this class of catalysts has been extensively utilized in a variety of fundamental transformations.

Thermodynamic Analysis of Decomposition of Thiourea and Thiourea Oxides
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2005Thiourea has exhibited extremely rich dynamical behavior when being oxidized either through a chemical approach or via an electrochemical method. In this study, thermodynamic properties of thiourea and its oxides are investigated by measuring their thermogravimetry (TG), differential thermogravimetry (DTG), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC ...

Oxidation of thiourea and substituted thioureas: a review
Journal of Sulfur Chemistry, 2011Thioureas, containing sulfur and nitrogen atoms, are susceptible to oxidation by a large number of oxidants giving rise to various products including ureas, sulfides, oxides of sulfur, and nitrogen. Some novel cyclized products were also obtained during oxidation.

Molecular Structure of Thiourea
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2012The molecular structure of thiourea has been investigated under C(s), C(2), and C(2v) symmetry constraints. At the coupled-cluster level in conjunction with a triple-ζ basis set, only the C(2) conformer has been found to be a real minimum on the potential energy surface.

Electrostatically Enhanced Thioureas
Organic Letters, 2016A new class of readily prepared thiourea catalysts with one or more positively charged centers and no new hydrogen-bonding sites are exploited in several bond-forming reactions and are orders of magnitude more reactive than Schreiner's thiourea. These findings provide the basis for a new strategy for activating hydrogen-bond catalysts.

Paper Chromatography of Thioureas
Nature, 1953IN the course of a current investigation, it became necessary to separate and identify minute amounts of N-substituted thioureas. Paper chromatography suggested itself as the method of choice for this purpose, and a technique has now been worked out which gives satisfactory and reproducible results on some thirty thioureas investigated, separately or ...

DIFFERENT workers have found the toxicity of thiourea to rats to be very variable1,2,3. Dieke and Richter4 claim that the degree of susceptibility of rats to poisoning by thiourea can be correlated with breed and age. They also suggest that diet plays some part.

Reaction of thiourea and substituted thioureas with 1,3-dibromopropyne
Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 20084-Bromomethylidene-2-imino(phenylimino, acetylimino)-1,3-thiazolidine hydrobromides and 4-bromomethylidene-2-acetylimino-1,3-thiazolidine are synthesized by the reaction of thiourea, N-phenylthiourea, N,N′-diphenylthiourea and N-acetylthiourea with 1,3-dibromopropyne in glacial acetic acid, absolute methanol, acetonitrile at 20°C or upon heating (60°C).
