Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Efficiency identity-based threshold group signature scheme

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2009
Threshold group signature was used to guarantee the security of the collective decision. To improve the efficiency,a new identity-based cryptography threshold group signature scheme was proposed basing on bilinear pairing and secret sharing. In this scheme,

Provably secure secret sharing scheme based on bilinear maps

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2008
A method to construct provable secure secret sharing scheme using bilinear pairing was recommended.Firstly, the semantic security definition for secret sharing scheme is given, which is developed from the standard definition of semantic security for the ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Adaptive deactivation and zero-forcing scheme for low-complexity LDPC decoders

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2017
A modified message propagation algorithm is proposed for a low-complexity decoder of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, which controls the information propagated from variable and check nodes. The proposed threshold-based node deactivation for ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Optimal Dividend Payments for the Piecewise-Deterministic Poisson Risk Model

open access: yes, 2014
This paper considers the optimal dividend payment problem in piecewise-deterministic compound Poisson risk models. The objective is to maximize the expected discounted dividend payout up to the time of ruin. We provide a comparative study in this general
