Integrated Metabolome and Transcriptome Analyses Reveal the Efficacy of Steroidal Saponins for Glucose and Lipid Metabolism in Hybrid Grouper (♀Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × ♂Epinephelus lanceolatu) Fed Higher-Lipid Diets

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
An analysis of the extent of the effect of steroidal saponin addition on glucose and lipid metabolism in hybrid grouper liver was performed at the transcriptomic and metabolomic levels.

SFlt-1 elevates blood pressure by augmenting endothelin-1-mediated vasoconstriction in mice. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
OBJECTIVE: Scavenging of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) elevates blood pressure (BP) in patients receiving anti-angiogenic therapy. Similarly, inhibition of circulation VEGF by its soluble receptor fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1) underlies

Bioactive Natural Products in Cardiovascular Disease: Focus on Thrombotic Events

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
An overview of the role of natural products (NP) in cardiovascular disease prevention, highlighting key mechanisms of action: including antiplatelet, antithrombotic, anti‐inflammatory, and antioxidant effects. Additionally, it illustrates the integration of diet–drug interactions, nutritional epigenetics, and the role of artificial intelligence in ...

Production of platelet thromboxane A2 inactivates purified human platelet thromboxane synthase [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1986
Human platelet thromboxane synthase was partially purified by DEAE-cellulose, Affi-Gel Blue, and Sephacryl S-300 chromatography to a specific activity of 259 nmol of thromboxane B2/min per mg. Thromboxane synthase retained 75-90% of its enzymic activity when bound to phenyl-Sepharose.

PFOA Exposure Elicits Quantitative Lipidomic Changes in the Pancreas in a Mouse Model of Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in the US and predicted to rise to second by 2030. Several risk factors have been identified as potential contributors to pancreatic cancer development including lifestyle factors and long‐term exposure to occupational and environmental carcinogens.

Non‐canonical PKG1 regulation in cardiovascular health and disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
It is well established that the cyclic GMP‐dependent protein kinase I (PKG1) is canonically activated by cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), enabling its regulation of vascular tone, cardiac function and smooth muscle homeostasis. However, diverse non‐canonical stimuli of PKG1 have also been identified.

Effects of Glycyrrhizin in a Mouse Model of Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2017
Background: Currently, there is a global attempt to identify potential anti-cancer agents with low toxicity. Previous studies have found that glycyrrhizin exerts anti-cancer action with low toxicity through suppressing thromboxane A2 (TxA2) in lung ...

Direct evidence implicating the asymmetrical dimethylarginine (ADMA)‐dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase 1 (DDAH1) pathway in cerebrovascular dysfunction and stroke pathogenesis in mice

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Asymmetrical dimethylarginine (ADMA) is an endogenous inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase (NOS), whereas dimethylaminohydrolase 1 (DDAH1) is primarily responsible for its metabolism. However, the roles of DDAH1 in cerebrovascular regulation are poorly understood. Furthermore, despite evidence that elevated ADMA levels are

Upregulation of thromboxane synthase in human colorectal carcinoma and the cancer cell proliferation by thromboxane A2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Tumor growth of colorectal cancers accompanies upregulation of cyclooxygenase-2, which catalyzes a conversion step from arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2 (PGH2).

A GHOSAL HEMATODIAPHYSEAL DYSPLASIA CASE; EXCELLENT RESPONSE TO NON-STEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMATORY DRUG TREATMENT

open access: yesHematology, Transfusion and Cell Therapy, 2023
Objective: Ghosal hematodiaphyseal dysplasia (GHDD) is a very rare autosomal recessive disease caused by prostaglandin metabolism disturbances due to biallelic mutations on chromosome 7q33-34 which lead to decrease in thromboxane synthase function ...
