Metabolism of Prostaglandins and Thromboxanes

open access: yes, 1981
Around 15 years ago the first metabolic steps in the inactivation of prostaglandins were elucidated. It was demonstrated that PGs of the E and F type were extensively taken up by many organs and tissues in the body (see (1) and references therein ...

Mechanotransduction of Magnetically Applied Forces Leads to Mechanical Stiffening of Platelet‐Rich Plugs

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 34, 11 September 2026.
A microfluidic device with magnetic microposts was used to assess platelet mechanobiology. The oscillatory actuation of posts with embedded iron particles was dampened by the dynamic stiffening of the platelet‐rich plugs. This stiffening process increased with applied load, but inhibiting platelet activation (ASA) or myosin contractility (blebbistatin)

Harnessing blood clot as a native scaffold for orchestrating tissue repairs and regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2026.
The blood clot, owing to its dynamic composition and unique microenvironment, holds significant yet underappreciated potential for tissue engineering. This review systematically summarizes the pathophysiology of clot formation, the key regulatory factors shaping its microenvironment, and its applications in both pre‐clinical and clinical settings ...

Sex differences in the lipid profiles of visceral adipose tissue with obesity and gonadectomy

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research
In obesity, adipose tissue (AT) expansion is accompanied by chronic inflammation. Altered lipid composition in the visceral or gonadal white AT (GWAT) directly drive AT macrophage accumulation and activation to a proinflammatory phenotype.

In Vitro Anti‐Inflammatory Activity of Sour Cherry (Prunus cerasus L.) Seed Oil and Computational Safety Profiling

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
In vitro anti‐inflammatory activity of sour cherry (Prunus cerasus L.) seed oil and computational safety profiling. ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro anti‐inflammatory activity of sour cherry seed oils, including samples obtained by Soxhlet extraction and maceration, as well as ten commercial samples.

Mechanistic Pathways of Wound Healing: From Hemostasis to Scar‐Free Regeneration

open access: yesCell Biochemistry and Function, Volume 44, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Wound healing is the critical process regulated through a harmonious coordination of cellular, molecular, pathological, and systemic communications. Normally, healing occurs in four overlapping phases, which are modified and controlled by various growth factor interactions and signaling pathways.

Emodin Suppresses the RAGE/ROCK1 Pathway to Modulate the Oligodendrocyte Lineage and Ameliorate Demyelination in Vascular Dementia Rats

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
Emodin improves white matter remyelination and alleviates cognitive deficits through suppression of the RAGE/ROCK1 signaling pathway in VD rats. Mechanistically, it modulates the OL lineage by reducing the elevated proliferative response of OPCs while promoting their maturation and remyelination.

Cardiovascular Diseases: Exploring Epidemiology, Pathophysiology, Risk Factors, and Medicinal Plant‐Based Therapies: A Narrative Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of global morbidity and mortality, encompassing coronary artery disease, hypertension, heart failure, and cerebrovascular disorders. The global burden of CVD continues to rise, driven by complex interactions among endothelial dysfunction, oxidative stress, inflammation,

The Microbiome as a Mirror: Distinguishing Healthy Individuals From Chronic Constipated Patients and Identifying Those With Hidden Psychiatric Burden

open access: yesMicrobiota Medicine Research, Volume 1, Issue 3, Page 91-106, September 2026.
Gut microbiota signatures distinguish chronic constipated patients from healthy individuals, supporting noninvasive diagnostic potential. Despite challenges in identifying psychiatric‐related comorbidities, microbial alterations, particularly in neurotransmitter and inflammatory pathways, lay the groundwork for future companion diagnostics and ...
