Estimation of Equilibrium Moisture Content and Drying Time of Potato Through Hot Air Drying

2016
The micro-organisms and bacteria lead the decomposition/decay of moist potato. These failures are almost negligible when the moisture content of potato is reduced below 10 %. Convective drying effectively prevents those defects/failures in the food stuffs. An experimental facility is developed for convective drying of moist object.

Analyzing Convective Heat and Mass Transfer in Through-Air Drying of Fabrics

Textile Research Journal, 1999
In studying the through-air drying (TAD) of tissues and towels, the drying and heating of TAD fabrics as part of the overall system is considered for the first time. For a simple, single-layer TAD fabric structure, convective drying and heating is modeled using well- known heat and mass transfer models developed in general chemical engineering practice.

Spray Drying and Crystallization of Lactose with Humid Air in a Straight-Through System

Drying Technology, 2014
The effects of different humidities on process yields and degrees of crystallinity have been studied for spray-dried powders from the spray drying of lactose with humid air in a straight-through system. According to Williams-Landel-Ferry (WLF) kinetics, it was suggested that a higher particle temperature and lower glass transition temperature would ...

PAPER DRYING: A STRATEGY FOR HIGHER MACHINE SPEED. I. THROUGH AIR DRYING FOR HYBRID DRYER SECTIONS

Drying Technology, 2001
For all grades of uncoated paper heavier than tissue, the search for new drying technology has recently become directed towards finding combinations of air drying with cylinder drying which have advantageous techno-economic characteristics. Air drying exists in two forms, through air drying and impingement air drying.

Simulation of natural air drying of maize in a typical location of Argentina: Influence of air heating through the fan

Biosystems Engineering, 2010
Current demand for the near ambient dried grains is growing, because this slow process tends to produce less fissures. This is especially important in flint maize. Near ambient drying may also use less energy and reduce greenhouse emissions. It is also called low-temperature or natural air drying can be considered as an alternative process to produce ...

Improving Malaysian cocoa quality through the use of dehumidified air under mild drying conditions

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2010
AbstractBACKGROUND: Various studies have been conducted in the past to improve the quality of Malaysian cocoa beans. However, the processing methods still remain crude and lack technological advancement. In terms of drying, no previous study has attempted to apply advanced drying technology to improve bean quality. This paper presents the first attempt

57—HIGH-INTENSITY DRYING OF TEXTILE FIBRES. PART I: THE NATURE OF THE FLOW OF AIR THROUGH BEDS OF DRYING FIBRES

The Journal of The Textile Institute, 1973
A theoretical analysis of the nature of non-isothermal flow in beds of drying loose-fibre assemblies indicates that the bed structure is sufficiently open for the air velocities normally encountered in industrial dryers to result in non-laminar flow.

Propagation of Thermal and Evaporation Waves Through Water-Wet Porous Media During Through-Flow Air Drying

Fluids Engineering, 1997
Abstract The simultaneous propagation of thermal and evaporation waves through a one-dimensional, water-wet porous media subjected to through-flow air drying is investigated through a set of theoretical, numerical, and experimental studies.
