Antimicrobial Surfaces for Reusable Food Packaging: A Comprehensive Review of Functionality and Suitability

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT With the recent introduction of the European Union's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) in February 2025, reusable plastic packaging schemes have gained increasing attention as a more circular and sustainable alternative to single‐use plastics (SUPs).

A Mechanism‐Based Framework for Anti‐Aging Strategies: From Metabolic Regulation to Senotherapy and Stem Cell‐Based Interventions

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 9, September 2026.
The aging of the human body is a complex process driven by multiple contributing factors. Based on their underlying mechanisms, current anti‐aging interventions can be classified into six primary categories. This paper summarizes the most promising anti‐aging strategies within each class. ABSTRACT The global prevalence of aging and age‐related diseases

The Thymic Microenvironment Shapes Age‐Related Qualitative Changes in the TCR Repertoire

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 9, September 2026.
Ageing profoundly alters the thymic microenvironment, but its impact on T‐cell receptor (TCR) repertoire selection remains unclear. By sequencing TCRαβ repertoires from young and aged thymus, hydrocortisone‐depleted thymus and RAG1‐deficient thymus transplantation models, we show that the aged thymic microenvironment drives qualitative changes in TCR ...

Akkermansia muciniphila and Its Bioactive Derivatives: Emerging Regulators of Healthy Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 9, September 2026.
The beneficial gut bacterium Akkermansia muciniphila (AKK) declines with age but is enriched in healthy centenarians. Supplementation of AKK extends healthspan and alleviates age‐related decline through direct host–microbe interactions and its bioactive derivatives, which collectively enhance gut barrier integrity, restore metabolic homeostasis ...

Type‐2‐Inflammatory‐Diseases Share Comorbidities, Molecular Signatures, IL4/IL13 Genetics, and Response to IL4/IL13 Blockade

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 9, Page 3345-3360, September 2026.
Studies suggest that type 2 inflammatory diseases are driven by overactivation of the IL4/IL13 pathway, manifesting differently in distinct tissues. We performed quantitative analyses using several large independent datasets to explore the interrelation of type 2 inflammatory diseases based on co‐prevalence, genetic predispositions, and transcriptomic ...

Is Asthma Remission a New Achievable Goal? A Review of the Current Drug‐Related Evidence and Predictors

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 9, Page 3107-3129, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Advances in asthma therapies have shown that clinical remission may be an achievable therapeutic goal for patients with asthma. This review discusses the current definitions of remission in asthma, the predictors of remission, airway inflammation/epithelial damage in asthma remission, airway remodeling, paradigms in defining remission and ...

Effect of Dupilumab on Airway Inflammation in Patients With Persistent Asthma

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 9, Page 3261-3272, September 2026.
EXPEDITION (NCT02573233) assessed the effects of dupilumab on airway inflammation in patients with persistent asthma using bronchoscopy and gene expression analysis. Dupilumab showed no appreciable effect on inflammatory cell types in biopsies or BALF samples.
