T cell plasticity in systemic lupus erythematosus revealed by large‐scale T cell receptor repertoire and transcriptome studies

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objective We aimed to characterize CD4+ T cell plasticity in human SLE by leveraging TCR repertoire features as markers of prior lineage states, integrating TCR and transcriptomic profiling to delineate plasticity patterns and evaluate their association with clinical disease activity.

Exploration of essential oils as alternatives to conventional fungicides in lupin cultivation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Lupin (Lupinus L.) has the potential to become a true alternative for soybean as protein source, especially in the more temperate regions in the world. However, diseases such as anthracnose (Colletotrichum lupini), gray mold (Botrytis cinerea), and root ...

Nanomaterial‐based immune therapeutic strategies in neurodegenerative diseases

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This review highlights the immunomodulatory potential of nanomaterials (NMs) in treating neurodegenerative diseases (NDs). It focuses on their roles in regulating innate and adaptive immune responses to maintain immune homeostasis. By providing insights into these mechanisms, the review lays the groundwork for innovative NMs therapeutic strategies to ...

Torsion and bending of nucleic acids studied by subnanosecond time-resolved fluorescence depolarization of intercalated dyes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Subnanosecond time‐resolved fluorescence depolarization has been used to monitor the reorientation of ethidium bromide intercalated in native DNA, synthetic polynucleotide complexes, and in supercoiled plasmid DNA.

Highly Potent Fluorogenic Ligands for Triplex DNA: 5‐Substituted 2‐(Naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐Chromen‐4‐Ones

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
5‐Substituted 2‐(naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐chromen‐4‐ones are reported as a novel class of highly potent and selective triplex DNA ligands. These ligands induce triplex formation at submicromolar concentrations and inhibit enzymatic activity via ligand‐mediated triplex formation.

Asymmetric thymocyte death underlies the CD4:CD8 T-cell ratio in the adaptive immune system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
It has long been recognized that the T-cell compartment has more CD4 helper than CD8 cytotoxic T cells, and this is most evident looking at T-cell development in the thymus.

Effect of protein malnutrition on the glycolytic and glutaminolytic enzyme activity of rat thymus and mesenteric lymph nodes

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1997
The activity of important glycolytic enzymes (hexokinase, phosphofructokinase, aldolase, phosphohexoseisomerase, pyruvate kinase and lactate dehydrogenase) and glutaminolytic enzymes (phosphate-dependent glutaminase) was determined in the thymus and ...

Dynamic Control of Nucleic Acids Self‐Assembly and Expression Using Photoswitches

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We review here the recent progress made in the design of molecular photoswitches, and highlight their implementation for the dynamic control over nucleic acids self‐assembly and expression. ABSTRACT Synthetic nucleic acids have become readily available and now constitute versatile building blocks in materials science—where they can be used to engineer ...

Terminal deoxynucleotidyltransferase. Serological studies and radioimmunoassay [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
Mouse antisera against calf terminal deoxynucleotidyltransferase (terminal transferase) have been prepared. The sera have been used to characterize terminal transferase both by studying inhibition of enzyme activity and by developing a competition ...
