Endocrine Disorders as a Contributory Factor to Neoplasia in SJL/J Mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We studied the endocrine status of SJL/J mice. Light and electron microscopy revealed that the adenohypophyses of both sexes became progressively infiltrated with an abnormal number of gonadotropinproducing cells that probably secreted large amounts of ...

Fine needle aspiration cytology of hepatic metastases of neuroendocrine tumors: A 20‐year retrospective, single institutional study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background Fine needle aspiration (FNA) is considered an excellent technique for documenting metastatic neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of FNA in diagnosing metastatic NETs to the liver and determining the grade ...

CDK4/6 Inhibition Induces CD8+ T Cell Antitumor Immunity via MIF‐Induced Functional Orchestration of Tumor‐Associated Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CDK4/6 inhibition promotes CD8+ T cell expansion through tumor‐macrophage crosstalk by activating HIF‐1α and enhancing MIF‐CD44/CD74 signaling. This reprograms TAMs to boost MHC‐I antigen presentation, and CDK4/6 inhibitor‐trained M1 TAM supernatant therapy synergizes with low‐dose PD‐1 blockade to restore antitumor immunity.

Metastatic Thymic Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma: The Diagnostic Challenges and Role of CRTC1/MAML2 Translocation in Accurate Diagnosis and Treatment

open access: yesThoracic Cancer
Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is a subtype of epithelial neoplasms commonly found in salivary glands, but can also be seen in the thymus. Diagnosing MEC of the thymus is sometimes challenging due to its histological similarities with adenosquamous ...

Aspects of thymic pathologies in paediatric patients. Case study of true thymic hyperplasia and the diagnostic approach

open access: yesPediatria Polska
Proliferative lesions of the thymus are very rare in children and represent about 2% of mediastinal tumours. They may result from organ hyperplasia, the presence of cysts, or germinal and epithelial neoplasms.

Treatment of ACTH-ectopic syndrome with long-acting octreotide: effective control of disease activity

open access: yesОжирение и метаболизм, 2022
ACTH — ectopic syndrome (ACTH-ES) is a severe multisystem disease caused by paraneoplastic secretion of ACTH itself and/or much less often corticoliberin (CL) by tumor tissue.

The Evolving Role of CD8+CD28- Immunosenescent T Cells in Cancer Immunology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Functional, tumor-specific CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes drive the adaptive immune response to cancer. Thus, induction of their activity is the ultimate aim of all immunotherapies.

A Microbiota‐ and IL‐15‐Dependent Innate‐Like B Cell Progenitor Expressing E4BP4

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work identifies CD3.NKp46.CD19.NK1.1. NK‐B cells enriched in PDK1‐deficient yet present in wild‐type bone marrow. IL‐15 (via CD122) and TLR9‐microbiota signaling maintain their E4BP4 expression. These cells demonstrate innate immunity, preferentially differentiate into B cells, and unveil a novel microbiota‐ and IL‐15‐dependent regulatory pathway ...

Primary Mesenteric Carcinoid Tumor Presenting with Carcinoid Syndrome

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastroenterology, 2018
Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are a diverse group of tumors arising throughout the body with a common origin from neuroendocrine cells. Well-differentiated NENs, also known as neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), are generally indolent and are often found ...

Gauging NOTCH1 Activation in Cancer Using Immunohistochemistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Fixed, paraffin-embedded (FPE) tissues are a potentially rich resource for studying the role of NOTCH1 in cancer and other pathologies, but tests that reliably detect activated NOTCH1 (NICD1) in FPE samples have been lacking.
