Recessive resistance to thyroid hormone in mice lacking thyroid hormone receptor beta: evidence for tissue‐specific modulation of receptor function. [PDF]
The diverse functions of thyroid hormone (T3) are presumed to be mediated by two genes encoding the related receptors, TRalpha and TRbeta. However, the in vivo functions of TRalpha and TRbeta are undefined. Here, we report that targeted inactivation of the mouse TRbeta gene results in goitre and elevated levels of thyroid hormone.

Despite growing awareness of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs), knowledge gaps remain regarding their effects on human brain development. EDC risk assessment focuses primarily on EATS modalities (estrogens, androgens, thyroid hormones, and ...

Unlike other thyroid hormone receptors (THRs), the beta 2 isoform (THRB2) has a restricted expression pattern and is uniquely and abundantly phosphorylated at a conserved serine residue S101 (S102 in humans). Using tagged and or phosphorylation-defective

Thyroid hormone regulation of beta-adrenergic receptor number.
The effects of exogenous thyroid hormones (thyroxine and triiodothyronine) on beta-adrenergic receptors in the rat myocardium were investigated. The potent beta-adrenergic antagonist, (-)-[3H]dihydroalprenolol, was used to directly estimate the number and affinity of beta-adrenergic receptors in rat heart membranes from control and hyperthyroid rats ...

Effects of flame retardant tributyl phosphate on early development of zebrafish
BackgroundTributyl phosphate (TBP) is widely used as an organophosphate flame retardant. However, there are limited studies on the toxicity of TBP to aquatic organisms at low levels of exposure.

The combination of elevated serum levels of free thyroid hormones with non-suppressed thyroid-stimulating hormone suggests the differential diagnoses of resistance to thyroid hormone or thyroid-stimulating hormone-secreting pituitary tumour. Clinical differentiation of these two conditions can be difficult, because patients with thyroid hormone ...

Resistance to thyroid hormone (RTH) syndrome is a rare disorder usually inherited as an autosomal dominant trait. The combination of elevated serum levels of free thyroid hormones with elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) suggest differential diagnoses of RTH, thyroxine-binding globulin abnormalities, familial dysalbuminemic hyperthyroxinemia and
