Comparison of DNA Changes in the Genomes of Thyroid Hyperplasia, Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma, and Healthy Tissues Using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA Polymerase Chain Reaction

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2019
Background: Thyroid carcinoma is the most common endocrine cancer. There are several methods for determining the mutation of genes, one of them is random amplified polymorphic DNA polymerase chain reaction (RAPD-PCR).

Strain and Shear Wave Elastography in Thyroid Nodules: Tissue Stiffness as a Complementary Risk Marker for Differentiating Benign, Indeterminate, and Malignant Cytology

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic performance of shear wave elastography (SWE) and strain elastography (SE) as complementary techniques to conventional B‐mode ultrasound for differentiating benign, indeterminate, and malignant thyroid nodules. Methods This prospective cross‐sectional study included 208 thyroid nodules evaluated using B‐mode

Pheochromocytoma, papillary thyroid carcinoma

open access: yesSaudi Medical Journal, 2009
A 53-year-old woman presented with labile and difficult to control hypertension on 3 different anti-hypertensive medications. Abdominal computed tomography and ultrasonography of the thyroid gland showed a 1.8 cm thyroid nodule. Fine needle aspiration biopsy of the thyroid nodule revealed papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Metastatic Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Masked by Diffuse Parenchymal Calcification

open access: yesEndocrinology Research and Practice, 2014
A patient with papillary thyroid carcinoma most commonly presents with a thyroid nodule or cervical lymphadenopathy. The ultrasonographic features of malign nodules are well known by the clinicians.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma in paediatric age

open access: yesTranslational medicine @ UniSa, 2020
In children, differentiated thyroid carcinoma is a rare condition. Early diagnosis is not always easy, because of the lack of clinical symptoms, but it has a pivotal role in performing a correct therapeutic process. The study describes three cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Surgery After Thermal Ablation of Thyroid Nodules: A Systematic Review of Surgical Risk, Strategy and Pathological Findings

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Thermal ablation is increasingly used for selected thyroid nodules, but some patients subsequently require thyroidectomy. The effect of prior ablation on surgical risk, operative strategy, and histopathology remains unclear. Methods PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library were searched from inception to May 2026 for studies

Papillary thyroid carcinoma: an update [PDF]

open access: yesModern Pathology, 2011
The past two decades have seen numerous developments in the understanding of the origins and biology of papillary thyroid carcinoma. Advances in molecular biology, clinicopathologic studies of new entities, facility with fine-needle aspiration biopsy, and new radiologic imaging techniques have allowed for earlier diagnosis of these tumors.

Familial Cancers Associated With Cancers of the Breast, Prostate, Colorectum, and Lung in Sweden

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Available epidemiological evidence shows that many cancers share familial risks, and this is increasingly confirmed by data on shared pathogenic germline gene variants between cancers. We decided to harness the world's largest resource on familial cancer to assess discordant familial risks for female breast (BC), prostate (PC), colorectal (CRC)

miR-191 downregulation plays a role in thyroid follicular tumors through CDK6 targeting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
miR-191 expression is frequently altered in several neoplasias, being upregulated in some, such as pancreatic, colon, lung and prostate carinomas, and downregulated in others, such as severe medulloblastomas and melanomas.
