The emergence of clinical resistance to tigecycline
International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents, 2013Tigecycline (TIG) exhibits broad-spectrum activity against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. However, clinical resistance has emerged recently and has been detected following treatment with TIG. This observation suggests that long-term monotherapy may carry a high risk for TIG resistance.

The goal of this study was to clarify the synergistic antibacterial activity of the combination of tigecycline (TGC) and rifampicin (RIF). Additionally, the study sought to investigate the impact of this combination on the development of mutational resistance and to assess its efficacy in an in vivo model using Galleria mellonella.

Tigecycline heteroresistance is highly prevalent in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates, reducing the efficacy of tigecycline treatment. This study investigated the population dynamics of A. baumannii with tigecycline heteroresistance to determine the origin of resistance that occurs over time after antibiotic exposure.

RshA mutations contributing to tigecycline resistance in Mycobacteroides abscessus
Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2022Tigecycline is an important rescue antibiotic for many bacterial infections. In Mycobacteroides abscessus , tigecycline resistance has been associated with dysregulated stress response caused by aberrations in the interaction of the SigH and RshA factors.

Tigecycline therapy in pediatric patients with multidrug resistant bacteremia
Enfermedades Infecciosas y Microbiología Clínica, 2020Multidrug resistance among bacteria increases the need for new therapeutic options. Tigecycline is one candidate drug, due to property of a wider anti-bacterial spectrum to multi-drug resistant (MDR) pathogens. However, it has still not been approved for use in pediatric patients. In this study the effectiveness and safety of tigecycline in children was

Rapid Development of Acinetobacter baumannii Resistance to Tigecycline
Pharmacotherapy: The Journal of Human Pharmacology and Drug Therapy, 2007A 53‐year‐old woman experienced a multidrug‐resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii urinary tract infection 5 months after undergoing kidney and liver transplantation. The tigecycline minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for her A. baumannii isolate was 1.5 μg/ml; the patient received 2 weeks of therapy with intravenous tigecycline as a 100‐mg ...

[Resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii to Tigecycline].
Sichuan da xue xue bao. Yi xue ban = Journal of Sichuan University. Medical science edition, 2019To determine the impact of long-term use of antibiotics and ultraviolet radiation on the resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii to tigecycline and the viability of tigecycline-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii .Three strains of tigecycline sensitive Acinetobacter baumannii were selected. Tigecycline resistance was induced through multi-step method or by

This study compared the effect of monotherapy of colistin, tigecycline, and their combination in sepsis model of mice. OXA-48 producing Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) strain was used in Balb/c mice. The mice were divided into competent and Methylprednisolone acetate (MPA)-treated groups.

The aim of the study is to determine in-vitro effects of imipenem-tigecycline, imipenem-colistin and tigecycline-colistin against carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) isolates. A total of 25 CRE isolates were included to the study. The minimum inhibition concentrations of imipenem, colistin-sulphate and tigecycline were determined with broth ...

Tigecycline: The answer to beta-lactam and fluoroquinolone resistance?
Journal of Infection, 2006Patients with serious bacterial infections such as intra-abdominal infections and complicated skin and soft tissue infections are often treated empirically because a delay in appropriate initial antimicrobial therapy has been shown to significantly increase morbidity and mortality.
