Optimized Deep Learning Framework for Diabetic Retinopathy Based on Systematic Multi‐Stage Transfer Learning and Predictive Risk Stratification

open access: yesApplied AI Letters, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2026.
A multi‐stage transfer learning framework systematically optimizes CNN architectures for diabetic retinopathy detection and risk stratification from fundus images. EfficientNetB7 achieves 96% accuracy while a survival‐inspired model generates continuous risk scores aligned with DR severity for clinically meaningful patient risk assessment.

Enhancing urothelial carcinoma diagnosis with artificial intelligence–integrated urine cytology: Biopsy‐validated accuracy and efficiency gain

open access: yesCancer Cytopathology, Volume 134, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Background Urine cytology is a noninvasive tool for detecting urothelial carcinoma, yet its performance depends heavily on expert cytologists and time‐intensive glass slide review. Artificial intelligence (AI)–assisted digital cytology has emerged as a potential solution to improve diagnostic sensitivity and workflow efficiency.

A systematic curriculum intervention: Embedding employability through constructive alignment to enhance student learning

open access: yesThe Curriculum Journal, Volume 37, Issue 2, Page 465-483, June 2026.
Abstract Embedding employability skills within university courses remains a significant challenge for educators, particularly in fields where professional readiness must complement rigorous academic training. This study presented a practical, theory‐driven curriculum intervention to redesign a final‐year Bachelor of Property course at a research ...

Soybean seed coat properties as determinants of natto and sprout quality

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 8, Page 4994-5011, June 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Improving breeding efficiency for superior soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) germplasm used in natto and sprouts requires understanding how seed coat properties relate to quality and functional traits. METHODS We measured seed weight, water uptake, and sprout length and thickness across various genotypes tested at different locations

Development of Chickpea‐Based Multigrain Gluten‐Free Crackers: Formulation Optimization and Evaluation of Nutritional, Antioxidant, and Quality Attributes

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Gluten‐free crackers often show limited nutritional quality because wheat flour is commonly replaced with starch‐rich ingredients that reduce protein, fiber, and bioactive compound contents. In this study, multigrain gluten‐free crackers were developed using different combinations of corn, chickpea, rice, and sorghum flours and evaluated for ...
