Deep Encoder Cross Network for Estimated Time of Arrival

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Estimated time of arrival (ETA) is essential to enable various intelligent transportation services and reduce passenger waiting time. Estimating the time of arrival of public transport in a highly dynamic and uncertain transportation system could be challenging.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Time Delay Estimation from Low Rate Samples: A Union of Subspaces Approach

open access: yes, 2009
Time delay estimation arises in many applications in which a multipath medium has to be identified from pulses transmitted through the channel. Various approaches have been proposed in the literature to identify time delays introduced by multipath ...

Multipath Separation-Direction of Arrival (MS-DOA) with Genetic Search Algorithm for HF channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Cataloged from PDF version of article.Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) defines the estimation of arrival angles of an electromagnetic wave impinging on a set of sensors. For dispersive and time-varying HF channels, where the propagating wave also suffers from

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Highly efficient impulse-radio ultra-wideband cavity-backed slot antenna in stacked air-filled substrate integrated waveguide technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
An impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) cavity-backed slot antenna covering the [5.9803; 6.9989] GHz frequency band of the IEEE 802.15.4a-2011 standard is designed and implemented in an air-filled substrate integrated waveguide (AFSIW) technology for ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Two-Dimensional Underdetermined DOA Estimation of Quasi-Stationary Signals using Parallel Nested Array [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2020
In this paper, a two dimensional underdetermined direction of arrival estimation (DOA) of quasi-stationary signals using a parallel nested array structure is investigated.

Maximum likelihood time-of-arrival estimation using antenna arrays: Application to global navigation satellite systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The problem of estimating the time-of-arrival (TOA) of a known signal in the presence of interferences and multipath propagation is addressed. This problem, is essential in high precision receivers of the Global Navigation Satellite Systems.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
